Had the opportunity to visit the town of Vigevano, which is famous for handcraft manufacturing of Shoe's. This historic center was once part of the Duke Francis II Sforza's kingdom. You can walk along this magnificent center and have some pre-dinner drinks and then have dinner in one of the many restaurants. From the center square you can also center the castle grounds.

Whilst the Duomo was a bit of a let down, San Michel mad up for it. It is difficult to describe how beautiful this ancient basilica is. Just marvel at the outside before stepping in and being blown away. Loved it!!!!! To bad there was no guided tour.

An absolute must-not miss. Frescos and architecture are quite unique. Opening hours are a bit tricky. Crashing into weddings ceremonies on Saturdays is definitely an option -despite politeness may be needed.

It took us a little while to find San Pietro, because we walked right past it! From the Duomo, you carry on straight ahead past the Torre Civica in the direction of the castle (away from the river). You then cross a main road with a grassy, tree covered island in the middle. On the other side you head straight over on the Via Griziotti in the direction of a car park. At this point you may notice an impressive building to the right, flags flying - and it was here we went wrong, continuing to the car park ahead. The church is joined onto the building on the right (the Carabinieri), at right angles to it - it's pretty inconspicuous from the outside apart from a Dante quote next to the door. Inside it's another matter - the first thing you see is the huge altarpiece marking St Augustine's tomb. The crypt below is a very special, spiritual place that also houses the tomb of the philosopher Boethius. To the left there is a room with an elaborately decorated roof housing a shop selling holy pictures etc, that is run on an honesty basis.

It is easy to reach Certosa di Pavia by train. There's a Trenord train from Milan (we took it from Porta Garibaldi, but it has other stops in Milan). Get off at the eponymous stop (it's the second-to-last stop on the line), walk through the parking lot until you hit the monastery compound wall, then turn right and walk along the pleasant path that encircles the wall until you get to the entrance (it's about a 15-minute walk since the entrance is on the opposite side relative to the train station). Once we walked through the monastery gate, we were blown away by the ornate church. To see the place in full (including the church choir, the royal tombs, and the cloisters) join a monk-led tour (it is free) that begins inside the church. Even though the tour was in Italian, and we don't speak Italian, we enjoyed it very much.

Though I am Italian I like to write some reports in English. For the simple reason that everybody, no matter where living, MUST know how many concealed jewels Italy has. Among these jewels, this Abbey, laying in a land called "Oltrepò Pavese", on Hills where some of the best Italian wineries are located.
Dated back to Middle Ages, full of frescoes of very high level, this Abbey is Worth the trip. Considering it is only one hour from Milan and in this location you can forget the noise and traffic of the city and recover your soul.
Come here, then, take he opportunity being in Milan to drop in, rent a car and face the paradise. No matter if in winter, when these Hills are covered with snow, or in spring, when the same Hills are blossomed with flowers and in summer, to escape from the low lands heat.
Italy is, as everybody knows, Rome, Venice, Florence, but it is also Butrio. An undiscovered spot which is only waiting for you!

The arch-structure of the Planetarium and Astronomical Observatory of Cà del Monte, harmonically fit into the hillside in order to be a non-invasive human intervention, is conceived to build a continuous dialogue among research, teaching and popularization of scientific culture. For this reason, different rooms (the central dome of the Planetarium, the two side domes and the theater) are connected in the activities of observation (from collecting and processing data to communicating them to different users), to achieve a plural look at reality. The central dome (diameter 7.5 m) hosts 70 seats and has a digital new-generation Planetarium to screen full dome movies: the Planetarium is an excellent tool to aid the knowledge of the sky (its apparent movements, its wonders) and to experience distances and astronomical phenomena thanks to simulations and movies.
Planetario organizzato con metodo e passione . Serate a tema , non difficile da raggiungere con un piccolo sentiero sterrato da percorrere . Panorama molto suggestivo

Pavia importance as religious, agricultural and industrial hub has been downsized over the years and it has became essentially an university town. The ancient university is located in the center of town and it is still used for some teaching, formal events, awarding of degrees and houses a large number of small museums for science, literature and medicine. It is a very large complex of many courtyards occupying several city blocks. Equally interesting are the beautiful colleges, in particular the Borromeo College, which still houses students in beautiful buildings at a walking distance.

An impressive piece of architecture by the master, Bramante. Overlooking the exquisite Renaissance Piazza Ducale and also the interior of the ruined Castello Sforzesco. A good photographic opportunity
