Guided boat tours around Cinque Terre. Snorkeling during the morning tour, sunset view during the afternoon tour.
We had a wonderful evening cruising the Cinque Terre shoreline. Seeing the towns from the water in the evening light was spectacular. Daniele was informative, and funny. We really enjoyed his humour, his stories and learning about the history about the area. Thank you Daniele for a great evening!!

Parco Naturale Regionale di Porto Venere must be one of the most beautiful natural areas we have visited. The mountain, the sea, the houses on the cliffs and on the coast, the cafes and the restaurants, and the hospitable locals, and the nice non-locals, make this a really great place to visit. This has to be experienced to be truly appreciated. We went there for one day and absolutely enjoyed every minute of it. Porto Venere is a remarkably stunning place.

One of the prettiest towns to visit if you're wanting to get away from the crowds. Enjoy the Piazza with its assortment of quant little shops offering something different to the large department stores. The photo opportunities here are limitless. Even the amateur photograher can get stunning shots here. The village is reached easily by public bus with a regular timetable.

Very nice rustic and elegant cantine. Professional staff speaking several languages and very helpful. Bosoni produces the best vermentino in Italy and sells it to a good price too. If you buy boxes, 6 or 12 bottles, you get a big discount. You can also fill your own bottle at a price of approx. €2 per litre. Also the red wines are perfect, try Nicolo V Riserva.

We arrived in Monterosso in October. One of the reasons we came to Cinque Terre was to do some of the hikes between the villages. So a word of warning: not all the trails are open at different times. Presumably since we arrived after the main tourist season all the trails except this one were closed for repair. Check before hand if you are counting on hiking all or certain specific trails. And remember there is a fee to hike each trail.
We did walk this one and found it very doable (I'm in average shape), a bit rough out of Monterosso as you hike up, but it gets easier as you go along. No need to wear hiking shoes since the path is well trodden. I found my Sketches just fine. As others have said the view is pretty. But if the weather is good and the sun shining its hard not to appreciate the view anywhere along the Italian coast.
All in all a pleasant excursion in the Fall, especially given the modest number of people hiking this trail. But another word of warning: I would hate to see this or any of the other trails in high tourist season! Similarly, even in off-season Vernazza was an unpleasant experience. I can only imagine what it would be like in high season! For me Cinque Terre in its entirety should be avoided for those months.

Interesting museum but lack of alternative languages to italian made it difficult for us to get the most from it. Worth a look to see the steles and visit the castle after. Could have done with a bar nearby in the heat so take drinks!

The town is walking distance form Villa France or vice versa if you want to avoid driving and parking although this is not an issue in ether town unless you visit when the ferragosta is happening (25 August) in Filetto.
The town is small but a beautiful place and great to photograph. I would recommend. The bar del Borgo Enoteca is well worth a vist too.

This trail has been closed by court order and is locked up on top with a barrier and signs stating it is closed below. Climbing over the fence or barrier can get you fined. Pay attention to the signage so that you don't go down a trail and the have to turn around and go back. The park gives you little information and to be truthful, start your hike in Manarola. The way the park sends you up is on to a highway and then thru the highway tunnel and then back down to Manarola or Riomaggiore. NO Views, just cars and a highway.

A nice beach at Bonassola, part sandy and part pebbles. Clear water, and nice temperature for swimming (in summer). When we were there in September, the waves were huge the first few days. No problem for strong swimmers, but daunting for others. After a few days, the sea was calm, but when you enter the water, it's shallow at first, and then suddenly it's fairly deep. Please keep this in mind when your children go into the water, or if you are not so confident swimming in the sea.
One more thing: like most of the Beaches in Italy, access to most this beach is not free, you need to rent a parasol and chairs, The part that is free, it's about one third of the total beach.
