Nova Gorica (pronounced [ˈnɔ̀ːʋa ɡɔˈɾìːtsa] ( listen); population: 13,852 (town); 21,082 (incl. suburbs); 31,000 (municipality)) is a town and a municipality in western Slovenia, on the border with Italy. Nova Gorica is a planned town, built according to the principles of modernist architecture after 1947, when the Paris Peace Treaty established a new border between Yugoslavia and Italy, leaving nearby Gorizia outside the borders of Yugoslavia and thus cutting off the Soča Valley, the Vipava Valley, the Gorizia Hills and the northwestern Karst Plateau from their traditional regional urban centre. Since 1948, Nova Gorica has replaced Gorizia as the principal urban centre of the Goriška or Gorizia region, as the northern part of the Slovenian Littoral has been traditionally called.

The purpose of this museum of First World is to represent the war events and their human and social influences. After an introduction on the First World War, attention is focused on the events on the War front along the Isonzo: besides the weapons and arms there are also objects related to the daily life of the soldiers and a real life reconstruction of a trench. Then there is the documentation of the situation in Gorizia, a real "trenchtown" and the description of the 1917 and 1918 events, until the armistice between Italy and Austria on the 3rd of November. The First World War museum includes an area dedicated to General Armando Diaz, with an exhibition of documents, medals and other objects.
My review concerns only the "War Museum", because I've only seen this.
Although in my opinion it is not up - for museological quality - the similar Museums I've seen in Rovereto (Italy) and in Kobarid (Slovenia), it is still decent, and allows an adequate idea of some of the tragic aspects of World War I.
On this basis, a feature of the museum is (understandably) the particular attention to the role of Gorizia into the war. Gorizia was then Austrian city, then one of the objectives of the Italian attacks. Fought by opposing armies, it was largely destroyed and almost deserted by its inhabitants (during the most dramatic events, only 3000 people remained in the city).
Another distinguishing feature of the museum is the rare documentation (photographic or otherwise) on the attack in Sarajevo, which gave origin (1914) to the World War I, and on the "double funeral" (in Trieste and Vienna) of the victims, the Austrian Crown Prince Franz Ferdinand and his wife.

A casino hotel is never my first choice, but this one was pretty good. Big rooms with extra sitting room, so loads of space, really good value for money. The Spa and pool where also a big hit. Tip avoid this hotel on weekends, as it is overrun with old Italians blowing there pension money.

Our company Palsit d.o.o. attended team building in Soča Fun Park few weeks ago.
We spent a wonderful afternoon in adrenaline park near Soča river. We were able to test our psychophysical abilities high above the ground and socialising with eachother outside the office. The zip line was the final touch. :) Special thanks to excellent guides who encouraged us to acheive the goal :) Definitely reccomend it!

Growing 32.000 vines on 8 hectares of land spread on 6 different locations. With lots of care, passion and hard work the vines give us grapes for 10 different wines produced in total quantity of up to 30.000 bottles per year. We are Lepa Vida. And you are always welcome to Osek, Vipava valley, Slovenia!
The family and found this boutique winery online and it was a fantastic find. Irena (owner) was in the middle of harvesting grapes when she gave us the time to explain and taste all the white wine selection from here farm. She even shared some of her family's reserve. We found several favorites but wanted to highlight two, oOo and MI, these two are different and a must taste.

This medieval castle has recently been opened for public access. It has not been completey renovated yet, however its walls are well preserved or rebuilt. It is now possible to reach the top of the castle's tower by climbing a narrow spiral staircase. From the tower you have a nice panoramic view over the Branik village and the castle surroundings.
Walking around the castle you get a fairly good impression about the castle design principles during the medieval times. The visit takes about one hour - or less, if you are in a hurry.
The castle can be reached by car from Branik or from Komen (if you are driving from the Carst region). No food or refreshments are served at the castle premises, but there are good restaurants in the vicinity.
I'll certainly visit again, if more renovations will be done.

The powerful castle is located on the top of the hill that dominates Gorizia. You can see it from all over the town but especially from the main square. It was built during the twelfth century. The rooms retain the ancient medieval furnishings. From the walls the city's view is really gorgeous!

We visited this church and monastery with a friend who lived in the area. Amazing views of the surrounding countryside from the top of the mountain. But the church itself and it's story are the star attractions. Inside the church is a small area to the left of the altar where people have left their written devotions to the Lady of Sveta Gora (Mary), from whom they associate cures of various ailments. The church itself is grand and beautiful.

If you are around this region, you have to see it! A bit difficult with public transportation. But it is an easy walk from Solkan. There are a few view points around the bridge. I liked the most the ones from the road, which climbes to Trnovska planota - you should take a ride there... There are more attractive Bridges on this railway.
