I absolutely loved this town. It had a great combination of families and young adults. Everything was was walkable and they shut down the Main Street to automobiles at night. We found delicious restaurants and beautiful Beaches. There was also an ATM and small mini-markets for groceries. We were only there for 3 days but I wish we could have stayed longer.

This is a point of land that has beautiful Beaches and a small hippie comunity. There is now a new visitor center at km 264 1/2 on Ruta 10 where you buy tickets to ride trucks over the dunes to get to the Beaches. No vehicles can drive out there other than these authorized trucks. Great unspoiled destination.
Best hippie place in Uruguay. Awesome and quiet place to take a break from the noise of the city and spend time in nice Beaches with giant dunes. The town is full of colors and at night you can see a sky full of stars

Welcome to Cabalgatas La Pedrera. We offer short horse ride tours and Oceanic horse ride tours. Contact Us!
Magdalena waited for me to arrive (a little later than I had booked) and then escorted me on a private tour to the beach and back through several pastures. She took pictures and a video of me galloping down the beach. I have had horseback riding on the beach on my bucket list for years, and this was a dream come true.
She accommodated me as a single person, though their policy is a 2 person minimum for the tour, so I was very grateful for that courtesy. Her dog Inga accompanied us on the tour and is a cool dog. The horse she selected for me was spirited but not difficult to handle, and we saw many interesting birds along the way (including a flock of turkeys).
I enjoyed this immensely and recommend Cabalgatas La Pedrera to anyone who is in the area for a fun time.

Praia situada na parte sul de La Paloma muito utilizada pelos surfistas por causa de suas ondas fortes.
Tem boa faixa de areia, sendo mais bonita que a praia do centro que tem o farol.

Punta Rubia is a calm beach, no crowds, where you feel detached from reality. The ocean isn't friendly most of the time, but it's a safe, beautiful place to spend your vacation. La Pedrera is right next door, with plenty of lovely restaurants and shops.

We were five beginning surfers. Francisco and Eduardo provided all transportation from our hotel, all equipment (wetsuits and boards), took us to a location consonant with our (lack of) ability, and got us to catch some waves. We began on the beach with some limbering-up exercises and instruction, and then they accompanied us, taking turns with each of us as needed, and always with the greatest patience and enthusiasm. You can't do better! We also thought it was very economical for the 3 hours or so they spent with us.

Part of the Parque Santa Teresa, great beach with services. The beach is huge with multiple access points along its length. Camping in the park nearby and baños with showers are available at many access points.
