Dongguan is a prefecture-level city in central Guangdong Province of South China. An important industrial city in the Pearl River Delta, Dongguan borders the provincial capital of Guangzhou to the north, Huizhou to the northeast, Shenzhen to the south, and the Pearl River to the west. It is part of the Pearl River Delta megacity with more than 44.78 million inhabitants at the 2010 census spread over nine municipalities (including Macao) across an area of 17,573 square kilometres (6,785 sq mi). Dongguan's city administration is considered especially progressive in seeking foreign direct investment. Dongguan ranks behind only Shenzhen, Shanghai and Suzhou in exports among Chinese cities, with $65.54 billion in shipments. It is also home to one of the world's largest, though largely empty, shopping malls, the New South China Mall. Although the city is geographically and thus culturally Cantonese in the Weitou form and as well as culturally Hakka in the prefectures of Fenggang and Qingxi, the majority of the modern-day population speaks Mandarin due to the large influx of economic migrants from other parts of China.

First western owned/managed individual restaurant in Dongguan City. Favorite expat and Chinese upper class location for meals, birthday parties, meetings or celebrations. Full Italian A La Carte with a very good selection of wines, most of them Italian. Particular dessert selection, quite unique in Dongguan with a team of 25 Chinese Staff and 5 Foreigners. Opened daily from 7am until 11pm
I decided to treat my kids to lunch here after picking them up from their preschool. The owner's brother Paulo seated us, quickly gave us a high chair for my toddler. Ordered pizza, a side of broccoli, and the tortellini in cream sauce. Everything delicious....MoreIt was very encouraging and thankful to read your comments and feedback in your review. I’ve shared with our staff your satisfaction and will be very to welcome you and your beloved ones again. Regards, Miguel Alves Founder/Owner Pizzerias Calzone

Gecko Pizza is located in the Changan City Center and has a high frequency of expats and foreigners working in Changan.
The Food and Beverage Menu is extensive while fair praised. The Service can be described as attentive and good with a good english knowledge. A good place to meet and hang out.

Generally acknowledge as the best Pub in China, One for the Road is known firstly for it's hygiene standards. Since opening in July 2006 customers have never seen any rats or cockroaches in the pub! We also have never had a case of food poisoning. One for the Road is also known to have a large array of Beers on tap from UK, Europe & China. This includes Cider, Ginger Beer & Non alcoholic beer! There is also a wide choice of bottled beers available. But primarily we are famous for our extensive food menu. Our food is consistently good which means we serve on average 350 people every weekday. This does mean we get very full. But if you cannot get a table in the main pub area (we can seat around 170 people) we can seat 50 upstairs in the games area or another 140 in our beer garden. It is acknowledged by Chinese and foreigners that One for the Road is the busiest and best foreign owned & run venue in Dongguan.
We've been going here on and off for almost 5 years now and every 6 months I feel like the owner has made an improvement in some way. As any parent of young kids knows, going out to eat can be more of a headache than it's worth. One for the Road is the easiest restaurant for families in my opinion. There's two bounce houses(toddler and older kids) so the kids can play while the food cooks instead of getting bored and noisy, a great outdoor deck with tables and a lounge Seating area to help alleviate the smoking (hard to avoid in China), and high chairs for littles. I've watched this place grow and change and you can really see that the owner is interested in continual improvement.
Foodwise I've never eaten anything I didn't like, and I've loved most of it. Fair priced-not cheap, but priced fair for the quality of food and the atmosphere. And good portions too.
For those without kids, the inside pub rarely sees the little rascals;)

Established in august 2006 in Guangzhou, Buongiorno Italian Restaurants prides itself as an authentic Italian Food experience: Italian owned, managed and prepared, confirming the theory that genuine Italian cuisine can't be made without genuine Italian hands in the kitchen. Our philosophy is offering excellent food and service in a warm and relaxed atmosphere. Find a piece of Italy in China. Find it in Buongiorno.

With all the local Taiwanese businesses moving out of Houjie, many Taiwanese restaurants have closed down due to lack of customers. Yet, Susan's kitchen remains strong and with business growing and growing. Susan's kitchen has not only captured the taste buds of the Taiwanese, but also most importantly the locals Chinese. I strongly recommend their cuttle fish 透抽 , Hakka stir-fry 客家小炒, clay pot shacha fish head 沙茶魚頭, shredded shrimp veggie wraps 蝦鬆, pork belly stew 扣肉, 3 cup chicken 三杯雞

Dongguan has a wonderful variety of food places and this is my "go to" for Thai food. They'll adjust the spices as requested, but we found all of our favorite dishes. I tend to love curries and they had numerous varieties...delicious.

The first and only Irish bar in Dongguan. Great for going for a meal, for some late night drinks or watching the sport.
Bands are good (sometimes), beer is awesome and cold, foods look delicous (didnt have any), but it is hard to breathe inside. Even my belt smell like cigarette when I left. Not planning to get back there... even though smokers would have some great time

Great food, service is better than most, pretty expensive but not outrageous.
Have eaten several meals here without issue. Any meal that I have had was cooked perfectly and very satisfying. A reasonable wine selection.
The service here is outstanding for Chinese standards.
If you have the budget you cant go wrong.

more than just a German bakery. next to a wide range of breads, cakes and chocolates, we serve home made German sized portions. located in the backyard is a traditional beergarden. draft beers such as Hofbräu and Krombacher. Na dann, Prost!
A weekly stop for me. Their breads are all great. Buns, rolls, croissants, cakes and pretty much anything is baked daily.
If you want to eat they have fantastic German food. The schnitzel is amazing and is big enough for at least two meals.
If you are missing good western style breads make sure you head over...mornings are the freshest.

Small Bar, Big Fun. Ziggy's is a small place, but it has a very international clientele, and the small space allows for people to interact, very friendly atmosphere. We have the coldest and cheapest beer in town, and delicious BBQ'd food on weekends. We are in a very busy area, so the pub height patio set out front is a fun place to people watch. Ziggy's "Drink a Beer"
Ziggy's (the original) is a great little pub on the outskirts of Dongguan in a town called Changan. Managed by foreign staff and catered to westerners; this is a great spot and serves pretty decent snacks and food. In more centrally located area of dongcheng Dongguan, they have opened a second location which is a very different experience. Although the beers are good and the atmosphere is great - the food is non-existent and the location is almost impossible to find if you're not a local. Unfortunately there are no familiar foreign faces to speak with as this ziggys seems to be an all chinese clientele. 5 stars for the original Ziggy's and 1 for the new Dongcheng location.
