We are very responsible for our services ^_^
This "will" be a great stop. All this village is the in major rework: streets / churches / houses / ...There are masons everywhere.
If this place has been a major city at the end of the 18th century, IT lost a lot though the times. Originally 36 churches, and now a few being restored.
If you look for the monastery of Porodrome, forget it. It is named now st John. You can walk up there if you are good (1hr) or drive up to it if lazy.
Beautiful site and soon will look like a full rebuilt village.

This ultra-modern structure houses a large, high-ceilinged gallery that mimics the scope of a Cathedral. Medieval depictions of unknown saints crowd the walls in a floor-to-ceiling array; some too distant to appreciate well from the floor. Onufri works include the famous Virgin & Child (in Onurfi “red” which is really an orange-saffron hue). The collection numbers several hundred works and the fully presented altarpiece in room 2 was stunning. Generally, however, if you visited the Onufri Museum in Barat, a visit to St. Mary’s Church on the outskirts of Korce and the Tomb of Kamenica would make for better use of your time.

The newly built Church of the Resurrection boasts a pleasing pink exterior adorned with brown accents. Inside it houses a marvelous iconostasis and some impressively carved cloister seats. The Cathedral serves as a testament to the resilience of Albanian Orthodoxy; the Hoxha regime destroyed the old structure.

Actually it's a tiny, early mediaeval (thirteenth century, I think) domed church, and very beautiful, both outside, for the exquisite decorative Byzantine brickwork, and inside, for the frescoes. This is said to be the oldest surviving church in Albania - even older than the churches in Voskopoje.
Some of the ancient icons in the Museum of Mediaeval Art are from this church.
To get there, go past the brewery and keep on for a few hundred yards. You're now in the suburb / ancient village of Mborja. Then begin asking people for "Shen Ristoz" (the Holy Resurrection), or "Shën Marisë" (St Mary's - because it's dedicated to the Virgin Mary). You'll see the church standing on a hill.
Best to have somebody with you who can track down whoever has the key, but if you haven't just ask around, pointing towards the church ("kisha") and making key-turning signs.

Well known, and visited by many Albanian and foreign tourists.
Coming from the Uk it is sometimes difficult to realise how people fought for educational and language rights in different countries . This is the first Albanian school where students were able to speak and be taught their own lanuage, opend in 1878 . It is clear that this was an important milestone in education in the country which has suffered so much unrest, The passion of the founders is evident and I was fascinated to hear the history and see the photos of early students. This is not a big museum , displays are not brilliant and has odd opening times, but if you are interested in social history, do visit

When we went to the Korça brewery, it was unfortunately not possible to arrange a tour. We did not contact the brewery ahead of our visit, but asked the security guard at the entrance. A tour can probably be arranged if you contact the brewery ahead of your visit, as mentioned in an earlier review.
However, we did spend some lovely hour or two in the adjacent beer garden, enjoying Korça beer and Kernace sausages. So even if a tour cannot be arranged, I would defenately recommend drinking a beer or two in the beer garden!

A gem! The Museum of Oriental Art is a small and varied Museum that houses the Collection of G Dimitri Boria, an American-Albanian.
The Museum shows the collection he amassed from his travels while working overseas post WWII as a photographer. On display are beautiful pieces of furniture from Korea, the United States and Europe, art from Japan, China, Tibet & Russia, Indonesian & African masks as well as photos of General McCarthur, President Truman, etc. taken during WWII. There are many English-language Captions and where we had questions the director, Jolinda, was more than helpful in explaining what she knew about them.
Please visit!

This is a gorgeous lookout over Lake Prespa (a body of water shared by 3 nations - Albania, Greece & Macedonia). From this vantage point, you can enjoy a breathtaking view from atop the mountain. You peer down upon a postcard-like little village nestled on the shores of a wooded lake. Pictures cannot do justice to the view.
The drive up from Korce is worth the trip alone. An very well-paved road (likely unpaved for centuries) zig-zags to climb the side of the mountain to the tiny village of Leska. Take the drive during the daytime on a clear day and from the mountain, facing back to Korce, you will see a beautiful patchwork of well tended fields all the way to the horizon.
When visiting Korce, take the 45 minute detour to drink in this beautiful drive and overlook. We used to say "bring an extra roll of film" but today (2016) I suppose one would advise, "make sure you have plenty of Gigabytes available."

Very average, not worth a journey situated in the heart of the town . Very much an active mosque catering for the local community who gave the impression that they tolerate rather than warmly welcome visitors

The walking zone of Korca. It's the place where you can find the most important buildings of the city such as The Education Museum, City Library, Culture Palace. Very vivid, with plenty of people especially in the summer. Many bars and restaurants where you can enjoy a break.
