Finnish Air Force Museum shows Finnish aviation history from its beginning, 1918 to the present days. The Main exhibition consists of aircraft, engines and aircrew equipment which has been used by the Finnish Air Force. The equipment of Air Force Signals Museum has its own section. A large collection of scale models gives a wider perspective to the whole field of aviation.
Finnish airforce museum has really nice planes and fighter planes in its collection. It gives you a nice overview on the history of Finlands military aviation.
I personally enjoyed the most to see Mig-21 and Saab Draken - fighters, former cornestone jets of the finnish airforce. There is also older planes to see, like Messerschmitt Bf 109 and shotdown Brewster (until 2018).
Museum also has a nice cafe and small souveniershop. Highly recommended, if your into aviation at all.

This museum offered more than I was expecting. Not only does it show Alvar's talents in architecture, but also the talents that influence interior design. There are photos, original drawings, scale reconstructions, jewellery and his paintings. He and his wives really have been an influence not only in Finland. The museum does not only showcase his achievements in design, but also give an insight into the man himself.

The museum is a specialized museum for handicraft covering entire Finland, a place where skills and people meet as well as an interesting destination for visitors.
Often interesting exhibions for all who are interested in crafts. Downstairs a compact introduction to the history of Finnish crafts. In summer artists at work at the street in front of the museum. Sometimes workshops, handicraft events, Christmas markets etc. - a place worth keeping your eye on while visiting Jyväskylä. Fridays are free (at least in winter time).
The museum has a shop corner with interesting crafts and Aivia, the handicraft shop next to the museum, is also good.

This is a one of a kind playground! It has all types of places and possibilities for all age groups. It is very large and very close to the city center. So if you visit the city and want some special place where you can relax and where your kids would have lots of fun, here is your top choice! My son enjoyed it and so did all the kids I saw there. There are so many outdoor toys offered by the administration of the playground: cars, bikes, sand toys.... you name it!

The Mission of the museum is to show and collect visual art from Central Finland, Finnish and international printmaking and photography as well as other national and international artwork complementary to museum’s collections. One of the museum's focus points is art and museum education. This centre consists of the Galleria Ratamo along with a printmaking workshop, photography studio and artist workspaces all situated in Jyväskylä’s former roundhouse.
Art museum of Jyväskylä really has it all: it is in the center of the town, prices are low (on fridays free entrance) and it has the best selection of art cards of Jyväskylä.Every time I go there, it´s almost like going to home. The atmosphere is cozy and friendly, staff is always smiling and service is really professional. I always recommend this place to everyone who is planning a trip to Jyväskylä.

The Museum of Central Finland operates as the provincial museum of Central Finland and the town museum of Jyvaskyla. At the Museum of Central Finland you can learn history of Jyvaskyla and Central Finland, you can re-enter bygone times and enjoy in a whole variety of ways! You can also find art Exhibitions. The museum building is worthy of visit in itself. It is designed by Alvar Aalto.
This is a fine museum to visit if you are in the area - but it's probably fair to say it's not a major attraction. If you are visiting the Alvar Alto museum next door, it doesn't hurt to have a quick look, though, particularly on a Friday outside of the main season (when museums are free in Jyväskilä). It's interesting to see how the town has developed over the years.

.... you need to be either a fan of the architect Alvar Aalto or an architect to really benefit from making the 40km round trip from Jyväskylä.
The intriguing aspects, for me, are the thought that the main council chamber must lack natural lighting (but I've not been inside yet); the light and airiness of the unroofed courtyard with it's rectangular water feature; and the juxtaposition of the concrete steps leading up to the entrance to the Town Hall and the turf steps on the other side of the courtyard.
This is my second visit. Four years ago I forgot to take a camera.
