The Falls are at the end of a reasonably straight forward drive from Ingham. The road has a very good surface, but beware of the very thin cows lining a significant part of the road. Once you get to the falls there is a spectacular sight. The track down from the viewing platform is not too difficult, but with the heat and the steep incline it is a long way back. But well worth the effort.

Here is yet another amazing waterfall and National Park (Paluma Range) in FNQ. Heading north from Townsville towards Ingham you turn left and travel along a red dirt road for a few kilometres. You then come to a carpark and picnic area, but don't stop here, keep driving past the caravan park (look out for wallabies and wild pigs - I saw both) until you get the the end where you will find another carpark. From here you can take a walk up to a lookout where you will get amazing views of the multi tiered Jourama Falls which are huge and expansive. It is a bit of a hike up to the lookout but its worth it and you can then go for a swim at one of the many mini-pools on offer throughout the huge granite boulders at the base of the falls . The area is so large you could spend hours climbing rocks and exploring and finding new swimming areas - I can't wait to go back again and do just that!

We were taken here by relatives, who are not birdwatchers but knew about our interests. Excellent visitors centre full of great info and displays. We did the 2km walk around various wetlands. We saw multiple bird species and agile wallabies. A brilliant concept, and a must visit for bird watchers. We will come back to this fantastic place again and spend more time next visit to North Qld

Take your time to really appreciate this fascinating work of mosaic. Not only the beautifully detailed mosaics but the wonderful information plaques explaining the historical background of each mosaic and also the people who donated to make it all possible. Great work from the community, and a real insight into the story of the Herbert River region.

I really enjoyed my visit. The aboriginal hosts were really nice people and it was interesting to learn about their ancient culture and hear the didgeridoo. Throwing the boomerang was good fun. The old homestead area was very interesting and it was amazing to see what the Gardens looked like before it was overgrown and abandoned. They have done a wonderful job restoring the wetlands from the weeds, and it was nice to see the birds on the lagoon. The exhibition about the kidnapped aborigines was excellent, it was confronting but extremely interesting. I would recommend you do a tour at Mungalla.

Broadwater is one of those hidden gems that the locals like to keep to themselves. Situated beside the cooling Broadwater Creek, the grounds have extensive camping and day areas with showers and toilets onsite for campers. There is also large grassed areas ideal for a game of cricket or footy.
The adjacent creek is sourced in the distant Mountains and is always running (and often icy cold). Note to punters though - there are fresh water stone fish in these areas so they recommend swimming with shoes on. The creek area also has a pontoon with easy access to the swimming hole.
Access to the site is a bit of a jaunt - the easy turn off is from the Bruce Highway just to the north of Ingham (look for the signs about 100m past the Herbert River bridge) but can also be reached from the west (via Abergowrie) - a slightly longer trip. The road in is unsealed but in good condition - but it can be a bit slippery in wet weather - and is probably a 15-20 mins drive in from the bitumen.
All up, it's an excellent stop off if you're travelling up or down the coast.
