It's just 1 hour via train from Shinjuku and 15 mins bus to the station. There's no English language in the travel information room. There're the big map with many routes to many mountain tops. Mt. Tonodake is the 2nd high around that area (Tanzawa is the highest one). It's around 7 km. from the bus station. The view along the way is breathtaking. It's very beautiful. You can see the city view in some points. When we reach 2/3 of the path, we saw the Fuji San at the opposite site, but the view from mountain top is much more beautiful. After 4 hours we reach the top and the view is stunning with 360 Panorama view.
Some parts are very steep. If you are the beginner, i recommend you to have the hiking pole with you as well as the nice hiking shoes. Also make sure you prepare enough food and the bottles of water for your breakfast and lunch. We have only 2 bottles of water and it's not enough. 2 Japanese men give us the bottle of water. They are the life saver!!
Note: You can continue hiking to the Mt. Tanzawa. It take around 1 more hour to the highest one.

I really enjoyed myself here. Even if you take the cable car to the shrine, there is still a lot of walking, climbing and steps. Lots and lots of stairs. Very uneven and difficult to climb. No handrails, so take a walking stick. In spite of all of that I wouldn't have wanted to miss this. The whole area is so beautiful and peaceful. Allow yourself plenty of time for the climbing. If you have bad knees, take the tram both up and down.

The first 5k of the hike is super easy and relaxing. First cross the street from the Okura bus stop follow the signs through the rural neighborhood and stroll along the wide leisurely path. The last 2k was tough for me. Up up up. Stairs galore. But there was a got bowl of soba as my prize to reach the top. And I also saw a guy hiking with three styrofoam boxes on his back (carrying up the soba) which also motivated me, thinking I didn't have it so bad. Unfortunately it was a cloudy day so no views but it didn't matter. Had a hot bowl of soba and it was so worth it. Super friendly guys with their soba shop and cool vibe all around. I might just have to go back.

The Cable car to reach the Oyama Afuri Shrine and the Oyama Dera Shrine in Isehara. The Oyama cable car route has 3 stations with two of them being terminal stations. The cable car operate every 30 minutes. The cable car station at the base of the mountain can be reached by taking a bus journey from the Isehara station on the Odakyu Line.
The cable car route provides scenic views along the route.
If planning to visit from Tokyo (Shinjuku), one can avail the Odakyu discount pass for the Isehara area which covers a round trip on the train, the bus fares and the cable car fares.

Very impressive park here. Located just up in the foothills of Hadano. Looks like a great place to have a picnic, BBQ or just relax at the local river that flows through it. Great view from a bridge that spans between the hills. Bring the family on this.

Mt.Koubo is only 200 m height. It is quite easy to walking around even for elderly people I am more than 70 years old but taking walk almost three times a week with my wife.Although the Mt.is low, you can see very nice scenic view like Mt. Fuji, Mt.Tanzawa, Pacific Ocean, Enoshima Island, and Oshima Island. In summer time you can see wild lily called Yamayuri (very big flower!).

I cycled up to Yabitsu Pass the long way from Sagamihara, so I guess I'm rating the whole experience, which was one my best in Japan to date.
I started out early on a Saturday morning in October from Tsukui-Ko, (NR413 and PR64) and crossed Miyagase lake, before heading up the Yabitsu Pass road (PR70). Beautiful. Fir trees, Mountains and clear bubbling streams. Had to share the road occasionally with motorcycles and cars, which - given that the road is narrow and in some places wet - got a little hairy. But, fundamentally, the pleasure of being out of Tokyo and in the great outdoors was overwhelmingly worth it.
The 80km round trip took me just over 3 and a half hours with stops for photos and map checks. The ride back down from Yabitsu Pass to Tsukui-Ko was exhilarating and absolutely justified the hard work in getting up there.
I'd strongly recommend this as a place to do a day's cycling or walking.

If you are a novice for mountain climbing, this is a good start for you. The first kilometer can be a little tough because of the wide gaps of stairs ascending to the top. But once you reach the view deck, it will be an easy go towards the exit. The view from the top is nice especially if you can clearly see Mount Fuji from afar.
You can also pack your lunchbox and have a relaxing picnic at the top. They have picnic tables for people who want to relax and unwind before continuing to walk down to the exit of the trail.
