Stunning panoramic views over the river Clyde from this unique location. Take in picturesque sunsets, the Mountains of Arran, the Clyde sea lochs, Ben Lomond and beyond. If you’re visiting Greenock on a cruise there’s no need to travel to Loch Lomond or Glasgow, Inverclyde has many beautiful walks and places to visit. The only bad thing about this view is that it’s frequetly blighted by the heinous and abominable trident submarines travelling to and from thei base. The British government has decided that the population of this area are worthwhile colartetal damage in the event of an attack or nuclear accident.

Built by George Maxwell in the 15th century, this elegant and still virtually intact castle was enlarged by his descendent Patrick Maxwell in the 16th century. Patrick was infamous for murdering two of his neighbours and beating his wife of 44 years who bore him 16 children. The oldest part of the castle is a tower built soon after 1478, with a gatehouse. The connecting range was added in 1597-1599 by the wicked Patrick Maxwell, in a most elegant style.
Didn't know the castle had been kept "alive" ... thanks to Historic Scotland... played around here as a child After the war... we were always warned that the " monsters will get you " ... it was interesting to learn from the curator(knowledgeable informative and enthusiastic guy) that animals like lions tigers etc were kept in the cellar by one of the castle keepers...
Some restoration still in process but many noooks and crannies to be found and the " anti-clockwise winding stairs were an unusual feature.... great commanding views of the Clyde..
Car park was occupied mainly by workers from the adjacent shipyard.... lets assume that the owners will compensate Historic Scotland for this "ab use"
Well worth a vIsit ... the children today appeared to be having a brilliant time

Lovers of Art Deco, or just amazing architecture and design, will not be disappointed. Much like Frank Lloyd Wright, MacKintosh not only designed the house, he did the furniture and fittings for most of the house as well. We were so fortunate to visit when we did as shortly the house is going to be cocooned for a considerable time to try and solve a damp problem that is threatening the integrity of the building. So, if you want to see the outside as well as the interior, check when this is being erected before going!

Wonderful 7 day/6 night tour into north highlands, isle of Skye, Castles, scotch tasting, shopping, best restaurants and bed-n-breakfasts. Our tour guide was George and absolutely made our trip spectacular. Poor guy had to contend with 6 women over 60 and all our luggage. I would recommend this tour group highly. The office staff was very helpful with all my questions before we even stepped into the country.

On the doorstep of Scotland's biggest city and on the Glasgow-Ayr train-line, RSPB Lochwinnoch is a real treat for nature lovers of all ages and abilities. Walk in the woodland, or sit for a while in our hide and watch the birds out on the water. For something more active, try a spot of pond dipping or try out the natural play area - very popular with kids! Alternatively, watch birds from the comfort of the visitor centre with, or even indulge in some retail therapy in the gift shop.
It's a lovely place to simply chill and watch the various birds go by, chatting to the very committed and informative staff/volunteers in the centre. Upstairs is a watching platform with binoculars so you can get close ups of the vast area, really good. Didn't spot an otter but still good. Had some lovely badges too.

As we are members of the NT for Scotland decided to travel the few short miles from Hill House Helensburgh where we'd been in the morning.
What a great find these Gardens are,so pretty & colourful in the spring,it was just so peaceful walking round,I am disabled but the lady gave us a sheet with the routes to do according to your level of fitness,we chose the yellow route, the terrain was easy & places to stop to admire the flowers, the greenhouse was lovely with all manner of hot house plants.
These Gardens are a credit to the team of gardeners working on them so well done to them.

Recently attended the Dougie Maclean gig here and was very impressed with this theatre and the closeness of the artist. Service at the bar was good with friendly staff. Didn't have food but there was plenty of tables occupied by diners.
