Walk the well signposted route up to the viewing tower on a hill, just behind the town. Mostly by road with some short cuts through a wood if you prefer that. Takes about 20 mins. The viewing tower is metal and has a spiral staircase up to a viewing platform from where you can see almost the whole lake and the Mountains on the opposite shore. Maybe not the best for people with mobility problems or if you're scared of heights!

Dropped in to see the castle last Fri & it did not disappoint! The walk up is steep but well worth it. The castle totally dominates the entire area with views for miles in every direction, really giving a fantastic depiction of what it was like here many moons ago. Lots of history to read & absorb from the building of the castle to it's fall into disrepair. Worth a couple of hours of anyone's time.

Our botanic garden is not simply an arboretum of many. It is not only a unique collection of cedars and cypresses, but a family history of several generations, a result of dedicated work and perseverance. Be a part of the history of our family! Feel the tranquility of centuries-old cedars, an enchanting view over the lake Balaton and taste our wines, which are expertise and spare no effort were made to you.
An excellent outdoor family program, a nice walk into a unique collection of pines and other trees. They have a playground for the kids and a winery for their parents.

Badacsony vulcano is a good choice if you look for a hiking near Balaton. It gives you a bit of everything - some climbing up and down, walking beautiful forest, amazing views overlooking the area from all sides, nice resting places where you can sit or lay down, information about historical formation of mountain, interesting layered rock formations and after all - a good hike. The vulcano mountain is not very big or high and there is a circle path around it and several one crossing the middle part. We also did some detour from the path to get closer to rock formations, but it is hard to say how much this is allowed or not. At least no big signs and barriers were there to keep you away from exploring the vulcano your way. Unless you want to go off the beaten trail, it is easy to walk, you do not need special hiking boots. The vulcano is accessible from several sides, but we parked a car near a hotel where is a car parking for approx 30 cars and you have to pay for it (could be 300 ft, but I am not sure, cause there were no one charging fee in mid March). If you go there in high season, I assume it can very busy because of the touristic area around. But you can extend your walk and start hiking from the village. I seems, that during the season there is a also a cafeteria or restaurant near the parking and local wine tasting/selling point. In total it took us 4,5 hours to explore the whole mountain, but the walk was too exhausting. You can go with children too (not possible with stroller though because of stairs) and make it shorter too. There is also a big cross on the mountain and it seems like some kind of religious cross-route or smth.

I love the construction of the sphere. It is a nice building and at the nice place. Worth to visit to make nice photos. The entrance fee is worth for it.

The biggest lake in the country and a traditional holiday spot. On the coastline you can find many activities, restaurants, cafes, museums for all ages. It is a shallow lake, mainly from the south side, but that makes it ideal if you are with young kids. It may not hold such great surprises for people who live near a sea, but nonetheless it is recommended to visit.

If you are interested in wine this is a great spot to stat with a tasting. On a beautiful location with a very much Mediterranean feel to it, you can find this winery. Modern, clean and nicely maintained place where you can enjoy a couple of glasses is decent wine too.
