Sculthorpe Moor is a nature reserve managed by national wildlife charity, The Hawk and Owl Trust. The rare fen habitat is managed for wild birds of prey and the eco-systems on which they depend. With over a mile of easy access boardwalk and hides this reserve is a great place to observe nature with every member of the family. Open from 8am every day. Only closed Christmas Day
We visited early one December morning with high hopes of Buzzards, Kestrels and Red Kites that we had seen in the area the previous day and a Barn Owl that we'd heard was in the area
The Reserve web-site said that the reserve was open.
The Reserve’s sign on the main road said that the reserved was open.
The locked gate at the bottom of the muddy lane preventing access to the car park said the opposite.
There was nowhere to turn. There was nowhere to park. … so a pointless trip, a frustrated reverse, and the waste of a morning.
Top Tip: DO NOT believe what they say on the sign on the main road!

The Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham is unlikely to appeal to everyone, but objectively it is very well maintained, well presented and the Norton Café is excellent. We enjoyed a very good lunch. There is a heady smell of incense and a it is very visibly a place of prayer and worship. It's an active and dynamic church, not a religious museum. As well as the main shrine church there are numerous decorated side chapels. A gem in rural north Norfolk.

Beautiful Gardens surrounding a Tudor Moated House with 3 exclusive self catering holiday cottages within the grounds. Gardens open to the public twice a week from April to September and free to guests. Use of harde tennis court
Pity the weather wasn't a little warmer the day we visited as this would be a lovely place to sit and admire the garden, and there are plenty of seats provided. A moated manor house with a variety of different planting schemes spread around the...MoreDespite the inclement weather there is always something for the visitors to see and it is so helpful to have the new coffee shop. Do come again and bring the Sunshine with you !

Binham Priory (English Heritage) is an outstanding example of what was left behind at the dissolution of the monasteries. Stone from the Priory has been re-used to maintain the Parish Church which was originally part of the Norman priory and even today, maintenance is still ongoing. Wandering around the priory ruins is fascinating and well explained by the English Heritage descriptions. It is such a weird experience to stand among the ruins where centuries ago the monks busied themselves in their everyday world. That such a building could be built in Norman times without the building aids we have today is awe inspiring even if they are ruins.

Little Walsingham Cross sits in a dedicated garden at at triangular junction of local roads. It is within a few minutes walking from the centre of Walsingham with its religious buildings as well as the station for the Wells & Walsingham Light Railway.
It takes the form of a tapering column topped with an encircled cross. It is mounted on a stepped six-sided base. The monument stands about 15 feet high and is enclosed within a gated enclosure.
The memorial gives the names of all servicemen who gave their lives in both World Wars, 35 in total, all but three from World War One.
Although located at this junction, at the time of my visit it was relatively quiet. A suitable place for reflection and remembrance.

Visited by over 5.4 million people. The Thursford Collection - The sights, sounds and sensations of the golden age of steam are never forgotten. Climb on board and enjoy all the fun of the fairground on our traditional carousels and gondola. Experience the size scale of steam with the largest collection of traction engines in the world. Delight in the unique sounds of Robert Wolfe show on the mighty Wurlitzer. Christmas Spectacular - Set in the magical surroundings of mechanical organs and fairground carousels, a cast of over 130 performers deliver an extravaganza of non-stop singing, dancing, music, humour and variety. Santa's Magical Journey - A trip to Santa will never be the same again with this truly unforgettable journey to the perfect Christmas memory.
People have raved for years about the Thursford Christmas Show and it's always been a case of "only old people like this kind of stuff", and to a certain extent it's true. Teenage "banging" hipsters will think they have suddenly been transported to the West End in December at the Sunday Palladium. And shouldn't they be grateful for that!
From the moment you pass Fakenham, the lasers in the night sky warn you that this is no Sunday newspapers horror story about cheap Winter Wonderland, but the promise of a magical experience you won't forget. From trees wrapped in lights, to animatronic wolves, an old fashioned village for those still wanting that last minute present, to the actual show itself. It's huge! There truly is no other way to describe it. It's so big that a full blown fairground carousel fits neatly in one corner. The singing, dancing, instrument playing and comedy is straight out of London. The whole area is decorated like Santa's grotto on Christmas Day and the fun doesn't stop.
No wonder they come from all over the UK and many return every year. If you long for a bit of 'old fashioned' but never fuddy duddy entertainment, book now. We booked in March and it was nearly sold out. By 22nd December 2017 nearly 30,000 seats had been sold for 2018 and with a max Seating capacity of c1700, you just know this year is going to he a cracker!

Walsingham Abbey Grounds surround the ruins of the historic Augustinian Priory of our Lady, England's most famous medieval pilgrimage shrine. The landscape garden, woods and river walks are also renowned for the white carpets of naturalised snowdrops which offer stunning displays in February. Admission includes the Shirehall Museum, originally a pilgrim hostel, which was converted into a Courtroom in Georgian times, and was in use as a court up to the 1970s. Today the Shirehall is Walsingham's museum of the history of pilgrimage and of local law and order. Also on display, Walsingham 950 time line tracing village history since 1061.
What a fabulous place to stroll around for a couple of hours. Carpeted in snowdrops at this time of the year. Also included in the £5 admission fee is the Shirehall Museum which is full of interesting local artefacts and history plus the Bridewell. You also get a voucher for a free cup of coffee from the Farm Shop. All in all, great value for money. Not a lot of parking in the village car park but only £2.80 for four hours. Suggest getting there early to be able to park during snowdrop season - we got the last space at 11am.

We don't have much chance to visit our granddaughter who is 2 years old. And this was lovely choice of place for our children to bring us. I especially enjoyed the soft play area which I had never experienced before. Of course to be so close to ducks to feed from our hands was a privilege.
Lunch was excellent in a beautiful barn-like room.
The staff everywhere was extremely friendly and helpful We also enjoyed looking at the statues and winter-flowering cherries and snowdrops in the well cared for Gardens. I expect we will come again and see the Park with our granddaughter as she experiences new things as she grows up. Such a lot of different things to do.......

Here in Walsingham we want to celebrate everything that is great about Norfolk food. Locally sourced, ingredients to cook with, or dishes we've prepared in our kitchens ready for your plate. We have two farm shops where you can taste the best of our region, here in Little Walsingham and at Norfolk Lavender in Heacham. Our vision is to connect our great local producers directly with customers and fill our shops with the best of fresh local Norfolk produce. We are in the heart of rural North Norfolk surrounded by farmland, with pretty much everything available on the doorstep. We know our customers want to know where their food comes from, and to buy the best of local produce at a good price. As farmers we would love our customers to understand more about how food is produced locally and how the countryside is shaped by food production.
The shop specialices in local produce and the pies, in particular, are great. Not a place for cheap food but definitely goof quality.
