The pedigree for this restaurant at first left me concerned and then curious. Fusion food at its best.
Essentially an old English pub with all the trappings and decorations you would expect (circa 1663) and yet it is a Chinese, Cantonese, Japanese and English fine dining restaurant/take away who just happens to cook gorgeous traditional Sunday lunches into the bargain!
The welcome is very oriental in that they are attentive, friendly and rapid. No stone is left unturned to ensure you love your visit with them.
The food is plentiful and very tasty. I had the roast lamb with crunchy roast potatoes, gravy and a huge Yorkshire pudding. We helped ourselves to the veg.
Puddings were made in house by the good lady of the house and all were utterly delicious. I personally can highly recommend the pavlova's.
Great value and can't wait to return.

Visited with a friend and had an absolute feast! Not all was to my taste like the pork on toast?, and some other fried things from our meat platter, also a very sickly sweet friend noodle dish which resembles candy floss. Mains were very good, although the sicky rice was not sticky, just a big congealed lump. Walls could do with a touch up as pealing paint, also a good dusting, if you must insist on clutter, then please dust it. Overall the food was lovely and so were the staff.

We came across The Hourglass by accident having been let down by another restaurant.
The restaurant is very modern in its design, stylishly decorated, and very clean & bright. My Husband had the ribs which were magnificent and I had the homemade lasagne which was delicious. The wine was good and not too expensive. I definitely recommend this restaurant.

It's really great when you find somewhere that you can revisit over and over and never be disappointed. The food is always good and service is quietly efficient. Sometimes places can feel a little 'precious' with staff asking if everything OK but not really listening to the response ... its a robotic question. Its just not like that at the Black Lion. We've never had cause to complain about anything but we know that if we did it would be taken seriously and rectified. Its always busy which adds to the general feel of being part of something good. Booking is a must ... just not our table, please!

Was deceptive when we walked in as not many people at first, and just a pub.
However the barmaid was very welcoming and friendly. Great knowledge and recommendations of local beer etc. Polite and courteous.
A wood burner lit at the end, a table by it with a window seat, and local ale. We were soon relaxed, warm and we ordered our food.
Not to be missed! Delicious! All our meals were presented well and were an extremely high standard! Compliments to the chef!
Lovely atmosphere, great setting, just great. Will Return for lunch! X
Thank you!

There was a fine selection of pies made on the premises and I selected one with steak ad kidney filling. It was utterly delicious and served with chips and peas. The coffee was superb and the staff most friendly. We will return.

A good quick lunch option! Fish was well cooked and batter crispy - ticked all the right boxes when out shopping on a chilly day.

I only shop with my wife when pressurised by her to do so.
So yesterday I accompanied her to Aldiss in Fakenham to purchase new furniture.
What a pleasant morning we spent in their store and after making our purchases we were treated to complementary coffee and scones.
The food being served in the restaurant looked wonderful and had we not have been eating out later would have had lunch here.
So today we have returned and enjoyed a first class lunch in this lovely store, served by friendly staff all at moderate prices.
Will certainly call again.

Marstons Two for One pub and restaurant
We had an evening meal in here as we were staying down the road at Wensome Lodge Hotel and there was not much choice for one of us who is vegetarian.
It was very busy but we managed just to get a seat in a cramped area and the food was served quickly and hot. Typical fare at a Wetherspoons but no complaints as it is very well priced, as are the drinks.
