We had intended to do this a couple of years ago but never made it due to unforeseen circumstances.
We booked it up during one of the most unsettled periods of weather that the Island had experienced for years, which included a very strong wind.
The instructor (Alex), was excellent and spent a short time guiding us through the training session. When he was satisfied that we could control the Segways we set off in a line on our adventure towards the lighthouse at El Cotillo. After a few minutes, Alex stopped us and switched off Training Mode, obviously feeling confident of our abilities. Off we set again, experiencing some horrendous winds and some squally rain. The route consisted of pavements, good roads, less-good roads, rough tracks and sandy paths.
We all found that controlling the Segway was rather easy once we got the hang of it. One uses the lean of ones body to accelerate and brake, and a simple push of the handlebars to change direction.
I would recommend this to anyone of all ages. Fabulous experience which that I would love to do again.

You´d like to truly discover your vacation spot? It's time to think outside the box, and explore with Cross Island! We have so many place to share with you : uncharted corners of Fuerteventura, hidden volcanoes, deserted coves, culinary tour, and many other delightful surprises... Board the Defender, let the adventure begins!...
Family of five (incl. three kids - 15, 13 & 9) really enjoyed our trip.
Suddenly the geography of Fuerteventura and all the Canary Islands came alive, with their 20 million-year history of volcanoes, erosion, microclimates, the importance of water, forging a life in hostile conditions etc. Great way to spend 4 hours.

Great service and very helpful staff!! We rented two mountainbikes for a day, which were of great quality. They even brought them to Corralejo so we could cycle to El Cotillo for a small fee. Easy communication through Whatsapp. I would highly recommend this place!

WELCOME TO Lajares - Fuerteventura AND BIENVENIDO A SURF INSTITUTE The learning of Surfing is possible for every human being. Your age, height or weight do not matter! Your Surfing courses here on Fuerteventura/Lajares are managed and carried- out exclusively by the founders of Surf Institute. The directors of the Surf Institute -Dave and Pat- will present you their novel surf training concept - surf courses without time limit! This unique surf course (training) concept [from Surf Institute] is also greatly suitable for the whole family. We make a difference with our unique service offering! We don`t do mass processing of surf students. We are small and we will stay like this on purpose! Because smaller groups mean bigger success and we are always there for you - on land and in the water. In contrary of other surf schools, with us you will benefit from being only in small groups and do not more than one course per day. We're remaining individually and teaching completely without pressure and stress. And the result will be more than just a surf lesson!
My friend and I took a Surfing course with Pat & his brother Gil on a recent holiday in Fuerteventura. The guys were very welcoming & focused heavily on the fun factor in learning how to surf which was great. The background they teach you & tips they give along the way in the water is awesome and best of all is that it's a maximum of four people in the lesson so you really get a lot of 1:1 instructor time. I'd definitely recommend them to anyone looking to learn to surf in a relaxed but professional environment.

Wow, what a fabulous little spot. The village has a small harbour overlooked by some cafes, tavernas on the cliff top. Fabulous views all along the coast, with amazing sandy Beaches and bays to explore. A good walk or drive along the beach road, path leads to some great bays and secluded coves. It extends along to the lighthouse, with amazing views and sandy bays to swim or relax in. Fantastic beautiful relaxing place.

We have been round the volcano several times and there are always plenty people here exploring. Park near the camel rides sign if there is room. I find walking anti clockwise is easier on my knees. There is a short spur off the circular path to the crater, where there are plenty ground squirrels seeking food.
The cobbled path round the back of the volcano is a bit wobbly in places and isn't suitable for those with limited mobility.
Usually good for seeing grey shrikes, trumpeter finches and ravens.
There is a longer loop that can be followed from the crater down the untarmaced road towards Tamaragua, then looping back towards Lajares - c 8kms in total.

When Reading the reviews on tripadvisor, I was perplexed as I have had the complete polar opposite experience using this company.
I visited the shop originally to hire a suit/board for myself and additional suit for my wife.
When entering the shop we were met with silence. Staff were glued to their social media accounts and stared blankly at us.
I introduced myself and explained what I needed. With that, I was given an ML Xcel wetsuit and board without being offered the chance to try the suit on. It was only when I got to the beach that I discovered it was obviously too small.
The next day I returned to get a better fitting suit. The previous girl who served me was visibly annoyed that I was interrupting her Instagram session and again, ignored me. Instead, her associate went to the store and handed me a O'Neil wetsuit in a Large size. Apparently, it is common knowledge that O'Neil suits come up larger than Xcel suits in their sizes, therefore I should've been offered the L in an Xcel.
Again, by the time I had been ushered out the door and arrived back at the beach. I discovered the suit was this time too large, rendering it pointless to wear at all.
Regarding my board, for my size and height, I need an 8ft board to learn on. I decided to measure the board I was given and it was closer to 7"4. I went back to the shop AGAIN, asking for a longer board, to which I was informed that it was 8" and the longest. They then gave me an even shorter board than the first, which was unusable.
To summarise, they lack the basic knowledge of their own products and I wouldn't recommend them. I wasted a lot of time and spent 200 euro's for nothing.
Needless to say I will be going on another Surfing holiday soon and doing better research into a legit hiring company.
To the owners. I understand you run a surf camp and you have many good reviews. I didn't get the impression that the girls in the hire shop were being supervised and that might explain the experience I received.

This school comes highly recommended for the excellent tuition, small groups and friendly staff. The lead instructor doesn't speak english that well, but easily made up for this with tremendous energy and enthusiasm and really excellent, personal advice. Groups were much smaller than the other schools in the water that day, and so we got much more individual help. We have done a few surf lessons in the past at various places we have visited and this was definitely the best. Highly recommended.

We drove to this location and on arrival parked up and walked around. Location is fantastic with wonderful views, but unfortunately the day we went it was closed so we couldn't enter but it was definitely worth going to the location.
