Dikili is a coastal town and a district of İzmir Province in the Aegean Region of Turkey. The district is quite picturesque both along its shoreline and in its interior parts, and is a popular summer resort. The center town of Dikili is situated at about 120 km (75 mi) north of İzmir, served by a good road. The notable township of Çandarlı (ancient Pitane) is located close to Dikili.

The beach is located in the middle of olive trees where you feel very good and relaxed. Sea is very clean so as the beach. If you go there late afternoon it is really Hard to find a good spot so try to be there early. Also the food service is not fast as it has to be. Anyway I like the place.

Among the most spectacular in Turkey, the site has remarkable remains from the Roman and Byzantine periods.
Pergamon was the largest of the Hellenic states in Anatolia, before being bequeathed to the Romans in 133bce by Attalus III. Eumenes II (197-159bce) modelled the city on the Acroplis of Athens, and it was clearly one of the greatest cities of the Greek world at that time. It was added to and embellished by the Romans under Augustus, Trajan, Hadrian and Caracalla. The superb Temple of Zeus is now in the Pergamon Museum in Berlin, but the Trajaneum, palace complex, Temple of Dionysius, and theatre are there to be explored. The library was the second largest in the Roman world after Alexandria, and it was at Pergamon that parchment was invented. The excellent signage around the site gives a very good idea of the splendours of the late Hellenic and early Roman empire period.

This beach is on a heavenly cove but really "off the beaten track"!! Unfortunately there is no public transportation for this beach. Drive 10km to the south of Dikili until you reach Bademli Village. (Try the local raw (green) grape juice "koruk" at the coffee house) Follow the narrow streets of the village until you reach the inner harbour of the village. Follow the right coast of the inner harbour and you will see signs of "Fame Beach - Er Turistik Plajı" It is a very rough stabilized road for 1 km. Then you will see the second sign showing a path into the olive forest. Now it is just a tractor beaten farm path among olive trees for 2km. Be careful that it is very narrow that in some corners only one vehicle can pass. But Turkish drivers are very practical that they drive backwards to let you pass when you get head to head. You will turn left when you see another sign among trees and you will see a 2m high iron door some 100m away. You will see the farm house and the parking area when you drive down the hill. No parking fee, entrance fee is 10TL per person, half for kids. Beach umbrellas, sunbeds or mattresses are free but limited. Grassland under the palm trees in the center is the best location I believe. At the same distance to the sea, restaurant, toilets and with more shadow during the day. The restaurant has a nice view of the cove and good food with reasonable prices. But the service is very slow when crowded. Surprisingly credit cards are accepted in this remote location. The water in the showers may smell a little because of the natural sulphur mineral content but very healthy for the hair and skin. Toilets are small and not hygenic, no toilet paper, need to be renovated.
But the beach is really nice with thin golden sand, sometimes with seaweed left overs on the shore. The sea is very clear and good for snorkelling especially before noon. After noon time it may get wavy and blurred, more in the evening. So I recommend you to go earlier in the day. The wide open cove is preserved from outer world with two rockwalls on sides, and a small island on the north side some 100m ashore. The seabed is sandy and shallow, making a waist-high sandbank about 50m ahead, safe for kids when the sea is not rough. Unfortunately no lifeguard attendance. If you make a small beach walk you can find some clay reserves on the north end wall, where you will see many "green" people having a full-body clay mask. Healthy for removing the dead skin after tanning. Beach slippers recommended for the last 100m. Hard to get there but rewarding.

The ruins talk for themselves, showing off their history of medical care in all its facets, eg psychology, health care and recuperation. Don't overlook this site below the old Pergamon.

I spent 8 days in Dikili and Barselona Beach is one of the best choice to spent your day. Foods are very good and prices are cheap. Just music volume is too high and we warned them about that but they didn't care.

Beautiful beach, clean sand, lovely water, good to go camping. But if you go before June, you won't be able to use the toilets or have a shower ?
