Very well restored building that's worth a visit by itself. It showcases a great collection of Romanian paintings and some sculptures, among which Brancusi's Miss Pogany and The kiss stand out. Must visit it if in town and even worth a stop if nearby.

If you are looking to find out more about a culture, then you should visit its cathedrals and museums. So, if you are travelling to Craiova, then you should visit the Metropolitan Cathedral. Next to the Cathedral lies the Oltenian Museum of Popular Arts, where you can see the way Oltenians used to live and also some of the traditions that our region has. Also, do not forget to spare some time and enjoy the lovely roses from the park that surrounds both buildings.

This museum is located in the oldest building of Craiova, the manor of the Craiovești boyars. The two store museum is not large but it is well organized and beautiful. You can see collections of costumes, textiles, craft tools, icons on glass, wooden objects etc. There is a folk art workshop for children, free. Alongside is a park and the Cathedral St. Demetrius. The staff is friendly and offers more information on request; the entrance fee is symbolic.

We visited Craiova and the Fountains at 7th June. We expected that the Fountain is working and in the evening they are luminated and moving according to music. Sorry to say but they are working during the day, no music and nothing else. I asked about at my hotel "Ramada Plaza" but they didn't know anything about.

Gives you a real flavour of what life was like in the Dolj region throughout the ages. An excellent guide to the flora and fauna of the region and especially intersting for families with children. Displays are informative, well lit and the museum has a modern feel.
