In a three and a half hours trip from the port of Cargese, one can experience more than history.
Moments after leaving the port, my U Filanciu ride gave me a thrill. The boat runs smoothly and on great speed.
Go on this ride if you want the best view of the colorful rocky hills along the coast just an hour drive from Ajaccio.
We took the Grand Tour and the captain was friendly and a great guide during the ride.
A fascinating tour and nothing compared to the price.

Highly recommend this trip. Scandola Preserve is stunning, and the captain of our boat, the Le Grand Bleu II was an expert at navigating into the tiny passages and grottos.
The rock formations are colorful and twisted, being igneous in nature. Combined with the aqua-blue, crystal-clear water, it was a unique eye-popping experience in an unspoiled, undeveloped area.
We saw a few ospreys and one of their huge nests, some gulls and a cormorant. But the biggest thrill was the large school of dolphins showing off for us. They followed the boat for some time. They are FAST! And were jumping and performing acrobats. One jumped out of the water and did a perfect 360 flip! I have seen dolphins quite a few times in various places around the world, and this was the most amazing experience I've had seeing dolphins in the wild.
The tour narration is only in French, which I don't speak. However, I was given an adequate written translation of the sights we saw. Luckily, François, who works for Croisieres Grandbleu, speaks English and was able to answer my most of questions. Most everyone on the tour did speak French, so I do understand that they can't cater to the few English-speakers that come aboard. I do think I missed a lot of information, however.
I would recommend that non-French speakers read up on the geology and natural history of Scandola, and the history of the coast from Cargese to Scandola.
But all in all, it was really a wonderful trip, with a very competent captain and first mate.

A pleasant walk from Cargese (about 6km each way). The paths are well made and marked and the views get better and better. The tower itself can be climbed to the top for the great view - and you can scramble out to the tip of the headland on the rocks - a wild place. A lot of work has been done to improve paths that provide access to excellent Beaches on either side and a route across the base of the headland

This is a professionally run diving club. Equipment is of top quality (you can bring your own). There are several beautiful spots around, including the not to be missed Capo Rosso 20 min away to the North.
They are very keen on safety.
Be sure to bring your PADI or any other document showing your level.
Even if you are level 1 (20m), if they think you can do it, you may do a level 2 dive (up to 40m) like Capo Rosso.
My wife had her first dive with them, and she was very happy about it.
Strongly recommended diving club.
We made 3 dives in a row with them. Better doing it the morning.

The Greek settlement in Corsica, dating from 1676, is remarkable among the colonies of its time for its very slow assimilation, but in the last years only some sense of Greek identity persisting to this day. However the Greco-Corsican construction of identity has been rather more precarious. Also a trip can permit to remember the particular historical circumstances of the colony , with its recorded attitude towards its Corsican neighbors, the continuity of its folk culture with its Greek antecedents, the conditions giving rise to its creedal identity.
Visiting the Greek church, and eating some foods, is an opportunity for experience how much Cargesians have been assimilated.

We took 2 jet skis out for 30 minutes - my son & I on one, and my wife & daughter on the other. The staff was kind, informative, and the equipment was in excellent condition.

We visited Cargese Corisca in July and August this year, intending to stay in the area for about a week. There are two main Beaches close to Cargese, one has a Club Mediterranean on it and the other is Plage Peru. We tried both and then basically stayed on Plage Peru. It is quite ba wide beach backed by a small river (dry most of the time but water did flow after rain inland) The beach is sandy, and most of the time was seaweed free. The water was beautifully clear except when the sea was stirred up, which according to the locals happened far more frequently this year. That made for some excellent waves to surf on, lots (well 5) of the new stand up paddlers out enjoying the waves as well. The beach is about a mile long, 1500 metres and with that much space it was unusual to have people closer than 5 metres. There were 3 cafe/pailliots on the beach, food good, service ok, views lovely to the sea and the nearby headland where there is a Genoan Tower. For the energetic its possible to walk to this from the end of the beach in about 75 minutes. We did it at 8 and again when taking the children at 9 in the morning. The return was always hot and water was a very good additional carry. The Tower gives excellent views back to the beach and up to the town and the hills behind. In 17 days we had rain for 1 day, the beach was a great way to spend time, the sea warm, and sunlight until well after 7pm. Lots of people came down to the beach in the cooler part of the day. Ample car parking but care needed on the drive way to the beach as it is narrowish, two cars find it difficult to pass, we saw one had slipped off the road into the stream next to it.
