This is housed inside the castle and is inside the keep. Some very interesting military artifacts here including guns from the 18th century, swords, medieval body armour, medals, uniforms etc. Really worth spending the time to look at and appreciate. Open 10am to 5pm daily. Public toilets inside the castle. Parking at the bottom of the Citadel that is free.

This is a beautiful little village, right on the frontier with Spain and just a half-hour's drive from Braganca. If 'rustic' is your thing, it has everything: a babbling brook, trees and songbirds aplenty, a large communal veggie Gardens alive with workers wielding traditional tools like scythes and hoes. The housing stock consists of a mixture of cottages from the ramshackle to the neat and modestly renovated. Not much in the way of shopping, if that is your thing.

This is truly an amazing ancient building, just next to the castle of Bragança. Entrance is free through a discreet side door, and one can breathe history once you are in. A relatively small building but one not to miss in Bragança

There were a number of groups waiting to have their children baptised in this church on the day we visited the church of Santa Maria. They contributed to the chaos of cars trying to park in the Citadel. The church itself is small, however it is worth visiting to see the magnificent ceiling and altar. A must visit if your visit the Citadel and castelo.

The Citadel is enclosed with Braganca's original city walls, and includes the castle. The area is quite small and the city grew beyond its walls centuries ago. What remains is in very good condition. Aside from the castle itself and the walls, there are a few narrow lanes of very neat and well maintained cottages. Looked like a nice little community

Braganca is full of beautiful historic old buildings and the big church is worth the visit. The church is in the middle of town all roads "converge" to the church square. Outside the church on Saturdays the town has a neighbours' market with fresh produce.

This is a really well-designed attraction designed to give children particularly a 'hands-on' practical experience of science and the environment. The staff are welcoming and clearly enthusiastic in encouraging understanding about the world, not least in the importance of recycling eg. I'd recommend a visit as part of a wider stroll around Braganca.

Unmissable if you are interested in folklore, customs, traditional dress and costume. Three floors of well-displayed costumed figures and masks and a good display of photos and information about mask makers and those who make other items for traditional events.

Emilia Nogueiro is a full time college history teacher and part time guide. And what an engaging guide she was. We learned more in two hours than we could have found out from hours with guidebooks. She made the old stones, Castles and churches come alive with stories about what happened in them. She also was a good source for restaurants and things we might want to do on our own. You probably only go to Braganca once--her guidance made it well worth the visit
