Balchik (Bulgarian: Балчик, Romanian: Balcic) is a Black Sea coastal town and seaside resort in the Southern Dobruja area of northeastern Bulgaria. It is located in Dobrich Province and is 42 km northeast of Varna. The town sprawls scenically along hilly terraces descending from the Dobruja plateau to the sea.

We had a fantastic time at this Water Park - I thought it was good value for money and lots of attractions for kids. There were only a few large rides but they were very good. My problem was with the rude lifeguards we encountered. We took my autistic nephew with us to this water park. He had just been on one of the big slides and wanted to go on it again. When we arrived at the top of the slide, he had a bit of a wobble about it and was debating whether to go back on. Whilst I was talking to him about it, a lifeguard started screaming at my brother-in-law that we needed to go down the slide right now etc etc. I wouldn't mind if there was a massive queue, but there was no-one behind us, and she could clearly see he was anxious. Horribly rude. He did get his confidence back and went down but we decided not to take him back up even though he asked because of this lady's reaction.

Queen’s winery house is local producer from Balchik , who offers free tasting of unique wine and spirits. The place includes exhibition hall with collection – oenotheque wines, rakia, brandies and liqueurs, all by Bulgarian winemakers from 1878 to nowadays. Infinite range of tastes, all different and without analogue. A pleace for adventurers you should not miss!
Balchik palace and botanical Gardens is the definite must see in Balchik but don't overlook the Queen's Wine House because this is a serious stop for wine lovers. You are guided in english by an excelllent and knowledgeable representative and there is no hard sell. The point being that they are endeavouring to establish a complete vini culture and winery in the area and the outlet in the Queen's Wine House functions as their show piece of everything they have to offer i.e. from antique bottles of historical value to modern day blends from the wide range of grapes growing in the region. An unusual speciality are the sweet raki (schnaps style), one made from melon and another from the green skins of almonds, both which I strongly recommend the visitor to taste (also free of charge!)

The Lighthouse Golf Course- Out of the three courses played in the area, Thracian Cliffs, Black SeaRama and the Lighthouse this is probably the least impressive of the 3. Albeit it is still a very nice course. Much more like a traditional British course and set back from the coast, it was very windy and chilly the day we played. Excellent very fast and true greens, well manicured and lush fairways.

one of the 2 Gary Player course in Bulgaria, this magnificent golf course is not for the high handicappers... we laid out with a good mix of straight and not so straight holes, best tip (keep it on the fairway) the roughs in this course are atrocious, they will swallow your balls like a hungry beast and if you dare to go into the long grass to look for them you will get pricked and poked with spiky plants for your troubles.
Club House has an amazing view of the sea as is right on the edge, however the club it self was basick or maybe I expected more of a club of this caliber. ProShop spoke English and they did their job but you do not get the sense they are excited that you there.
green fee is not cheap but for Bulgaria but as a golfer you should play there at least once.

Travel&Attraction Center "Experience Bulgaria" in Balchik can help you to have a perfect vacation in the Bulgarian Northern Black Sea Cost. They offer the best boat trips and water attractions like parasailing, ring ride, diving, speed boat adventures, etc. I recommend you the boat trip to Cape Kaliakra, if you want to spend 3 hours on a brand new motor boat and see the most beautiful places of the Coast. They also offer private discovery tours and many other things to do in Bulgaria.

The second night we went there the staff already treated us like regulars. We played pool, monopoly and had a few delicious and cheep cocktails. Our favorite was the touch screen electronic table with lots of boardgames for one, two up until 6 players with 3 leva per person per game. They also had snooker, darts, foosball and a live bad singing classic covers.
A very pleasant experience.

This place (which is really a mausoleum rather than a mosque) is NOT in Balchik - it is actually nearer to Albena and you could even walk it from there, or a taxi ought to be cheap enough. Obrochishte is the neighbouring village inland from Albena. This is the tomb of a holy man who apparently is venerated by both Muslims and Christians in the area. It's an interesting mixture of the two religions together, which is good to see in an age where religions often seem to be polarising.
There isn't a great deal to see, but traditionally you should stick your hand into the tomb to cop a quick feel (!) and walk round it 3 times, which is supposed to bring good luck. A small entrance fee is charged, increased if you want to take pictures. It's a bit of traditional Bulgarian folk religion to experience.

Nicely positioned in a villa on top of a hill, with wonderful sea views. The gallery itself is very interesting, it has both works by classical Bulgarian artists as well as contemporary works, some of which are for sale.
We had the chance of catching a pottery and glazed earthenware exhibition, and could even buy a few items which made great gifts for our loved ones at home, at interesting prices!
