We had a wonderful 4 days in Amarante staying at the Casa da Calcada Relais & Chateau. We had a magnificent view of the bridge and church opposite from our hotel window. The bridge is beautifully floodlit at night and pleasant to stroll across during the day despite the traffic. The town is not at all touristy and has a most relaxing atmosphere. We're only keen to go there again.

This is quite a large Museum, really more an art gallery specialising in temporary Exhibitions of Contemporary art and a large permanent collection of Portuguese art from 1860 to present day. Not to everyone's taste but at only 1 euro to get in, would repay an hour of your time.

Well worth hiring bikes and exploring this cycle path which was once the old railway line. Several stations along the way have now fallen into disrepair, but the first you come across has been beautifully restored and is beside a delightful cafe where I can recommend the Vino Verde and expresso's!

Surplombant le pont, l'église et le couvent Sao Gonçalo cet édifice mérite votre attention et vaut le détour pour la richesse des 'decorations"

We found this place right behind the municipal pool. Went for a walk and were surprised at how nice this place is. If your in the area bring some snacks and enjoy the park.

We came here a couple of times a week. Kids kept cool in the pool while us parents could sun ourselves in the large grass area, or grab a coffee from the snack bar.
It's cheaper to go in the mornings, and it's not as crowded either.
Worth a visit, we will be back.

The former mother Church of Real (replaced in 1938) is a 14th-century building. The main façade reveals a period that was already announcing the arrival of the Gothic style: the portal has a slightly broken arch with no tympanum; the columns are slender and are topped by capitals whose sculpture is not so bulky or expressive. On the south façade there is still an arcosolium with a tomb, whose lid shows a carved sword. Inside, we can still see Romanesque consecration crosses inscribed in a circle.
Um dos monumentos da Rota do Romanico que, sem dúvida, vale mesmo a pena visitar e desfrutar não só da beleza deste monumento mas também da beleza de toda a paisagem e ambiente em torno deste.
