We are very lucky in Sonthofen to have 3 greek restaurants. Each one has its own fascination. Poseidon is probably the first established. Many years ago when the present owners took over the premises, it had recently been very extensively renovated; expensive wood paneling of the best quality. This basic ambience has been retained over the years and slowly but surely developed towards a genuine greek feeling. Everything is snug and comfortable. Poseidon is always full which of course is a good sign but then again you have to book! Welcome is the feeling you get on arrival. Service is immediate, friendly and efficient. The menu is just right, not too much, not to little. The food is excellent, well cooked, good products and great taste. The starters, main courses and desserts are all of the same top quality. The prices are fair. One is usually served by the owner who of course can therefore keep her eye on the quality. Why only 4 and not 5 points? Unfortunately there is no place to eat outside. Nevertheless we have visited Poseidon many, many times and will continue to do so.

We turned up as a group of 4 with no reservation. A table was found for us nevertheless and the staff still had a smile.
We all had different meals and each dish was traditional German fare as expected, and was absolutely delicious. The atmosphere and decor were really nice and gave a traditional feel. The service was friendly and official we would definitely visit again - highly recommended

This little gem in the middle of Sonthofen is as traditional as Bavaria gets! from its spacious typical décor to wenches in traditional dress. We were welcomed with a smile and English menus. The big bonus, it's the local brewery as well and the beer is to die for, so much so that I ended up drinking from a stein hick! Hirsch gold was my favourite but there are so many others as well. Food was hearty and plentiful as you'd expect. Faultless!

It is good that the vietnamese owners call their restaurant a Vietnamese Restaurant and not chinese or asian. They are, quite rightly, proud of their kitchen. They have been living some time now in Allgaeu and have taken the trouble to learn German, which they speak well. The restaurant itself which was a long, long time an Italian has been cleverly restyled to give the asiatic feel. The service is friendly, confident and efficient. The menu is well thought out and well presented (not a plastic card). We have tried many of the starters and main courses, also the Saturday Evening Buffet and have never been disappointed. Even after saying all that, the fact that stands out is the wonderful way the owners handle their customers: extremely polite, friendly but not at all shy.

This is our the second visit to the iconic pink old post office building in the classy Promenadestrasse in the vicinity of the town hall although a first report. This is a well appointed restaurant with plush red interior set in a series of quirky rooms together with a large comfortable garden to which most of the clientele had repaired on this warm Friday summer evening. We preferred to eat inside however and for my wife's friend (whom we were visiting in her flat in town) a large helping of Hahnchenbrust (chicken breast) Grillteller (mixed grill for me) and Fitness salat for my wife. All generous portions so we only needed one course but then I could not resist the freshly made crepes following which my wife had an expresso-eis confection which were both well received and my wife's friend finished with a cappuccino. All very well cooked and presented and washed down with Weinschorle (white wine spritzer), two bitter lemons and given the heat of the evening two "pints"of Weizen Hell lager for me.

First ate at this restaurant in January, and had such a wonderful meal, I eagerly returned in February. On both occasions, the service was really first class. Very attentive, friendly and efficient. We were all given a complimentary small tapas before our first course arrived. We then had a tapas starter, and I had the Argentinian fillet steak, cooked as I like it, rare. The roasted vegetables I had to accompany the steak were delicious, and a generous portion. I would highly recommend this warm and friendly restaurant.

Great bar, good ambience, fair drinks prices and good music. Visited this bar a couple of times and on both occasions we had attentive and friendly service. Warm and welcoming interior. Highly recommended.

Had a very pleasant dinner here with a group of friends. Service was extremely efficient and friendly. God, extensive menus. My meal was quite good, although the pork a little dry and over cooked. The sauce however was good. Nice atmosphere.

After a few days in Bavaria, my husband and I decided to branch out from the local cuisine in search of some pizza. The Italian staff was friendly and the restaurant had a nice atmosphere. We ordered a salad and two pizzas. The salad was simple and perhaps a bit too overdressed with an oil and vinegar dressing. The first pizza had tuna, shrimp and onions. I thought it was a good pizza but the second one was my favorite. The second pizza had ham, artichokes, and olives. Both pizzas had a perfect crust which was not too thin, not too thick and was crisped just right. The waiter ended our meal with a shot of wine from his hometown on the house. It made me wish I was in Italy to get more food like it! I highly recommend going if you are looking for Italian food in Bavaria!

Had dinner here with a group recently, and had an enjoyable evening. The service was excellent and very attentive. The food was so so, nothing special, and quite expensive. I had the rump steak Madagascar, which came with a baked potato which was alright, but I think microwaved as the skin wasn't oven baked and the sour cream too sweet. The steak was fine, but not delicious, but cooked how I had ordered it - rare. The flavoured butter it came with was either straight out of the freezer or fridge and rock hard so did not melt on the steak.
