This restuarant is probably one of the best in Scarborough, hence why we came....a bit of a hike from the South Cliff though so go by taxi!!
I booked by email but was contacted and asked of we could come 15 minutes earlier as they had a couple of larger tables in later which I was grateful for many restaurants would not have given you that option.
It is a small affair probably 40 covers with one chef preparing the whole lot so I can understand the spacing out of tables.
The food was deliscious...end of story, cannot expand any ore other than to say please go and enjoy it.
Thanks guys

Long week at work and fancied a hearty meal which didn’t involve cooking ourselves and do it had to be The Bryherstones for the famous steak pie.
The last few months we have visited this cosy country pub quite regularly mainly Saturday afternoons during wintry months and have sampled a couple of different dishes from the menu although it’s hard not to keep ordering steak pie!
Not far out of Scarborough, ample parking for customers, large beer garden to the rear which I imagine will be very busy on a summers evening. The newly furnished eating area is really nice with a roaring fire and twinkling fairy lights above the bar - nice ambience. Would be nice to put some leather settees near the fire for those wanting to enjoy a cosy drink if not dining with a view out to the beer garden.
Toilets are very clean and also refurbished.
This is a popular place to eat and the proprietor is always very welcoming and takes time to have a chat and get to know his customers. It feels like a personal touch. I like the quirky memorabilia and pieces from equestrian and farming days - adds a touch of nostalgia and charm.
Specials board always there to tease you from the regular menu detailing that famous pie, with some interesting dishes. My husband can’t resist the steak burger with caramelised onion and a wedge of Brie, served generously with salad and coleslaw, home cooked perfect chips.
Somehow I managed to eat all my steak pie with the exception of a small morsel my husband had to try! Full of tasty steak pieces and topped with shortcrust - a real pie! Veg and chips served separately - very tasty indeed.
Alas no room for desert!
The fish and chips are also very good here, fresh as it can be and they pride themselves in using best quality meat and fish from local sources. Can’t beat it!
I have been meaning to return for Sunday lunch, we will at some point.
Recommend.

Eat Me Cafe sits quietly in a backstreet of Scarborough behind the world-famous Stephen Joseph Theatre. We offer a diverse multicultural menu, serving hand-packed burgers, Japanese Ramen, Shetland Pie, Thai Curries.... And much much more. 95% Of our food is made in-house from scratch. Our wide range of cakes changes daily. We serve our own much loved blend of coffee, fair trade certified and expertly roasted by The Heavenly Coffee Company and this can't be found anywhere else. All our food is cooked to order, and at busy times there may be a delay. Our chips are skin on for goodness and seasoned with Eat Me's own blend seasoning. We only use Butter on our breads and please be aware that Our Kitchen contains nuts, both kinds. If you have special dietary requirements please let us know and we will try to accommodate. We always have dairy free butter alternatives and soya milk on request, as well as Gluten Free bread for those Sandwich requirements. Also, during the day when busy you may be asked to share a table, you never know who you might meet. We love Yorkshire and Scarborough and were so proud to receive The Good Food Guide Cafe of the Year 2014 award and be in the guide again for 2015. We embrace our quirkiness, bringing a smile to our customers faces from the moment they walk in! Finally if you are in a rush for the theatre, the train or collecting the kids please let us know, we will do all we humanly can!
Popped in for a spot of lunch and the food and service was excellent. A warm welcome and a varied menu. Had the chicken satay tin-plate and there was no problem catering for my personal food foibles. Had a very fine root beer with my meal and excellent coffe after. Highly recommended.

Nicely appointed restaurant. Formal dining complete with pre-dinner drinks in the conservatory, with a lovely garden view. We ate dinner and breakfast here, good service, seasonal menu, very tasty food. I am sorry that I could not eat dessert (too full), as it looked scrumptious.

Situated in the village of Scalby, just outside Scarborough The Yew Tree Café offers a friendly and relaxed service with an excellent variety of freshly-prepared food using local and regional produce. You can choose to either eat in or take away; breakfasts, sandwiches, snacks and our home baked cakes and treats are available. A wide range of hot and cold drinks are served, from Barista made coffees to a range of speciality teas, to delicious hot chocolates and classic milkshakes as well as locally brewed beers and a variety of wines and spirits. Dogs are welcome with their well behaved owners!
We were in Scalby staying for a few days holiday and noticed The Yew Tree Café while waiting for the bus into Scarborough, and noticed it was very busy and thought we would try a visit next day "Sunday"
We were not disappointed for we both were greeted friendly and were shown to our Seating, we both ordered the cream tea and it was excellent we felt a little guilty as we broke our diet. BUT Worth it.

We called in here on the 1 Feb with our 2 yr old grand child and was made really welcome. We had standard fish and chips, peas bread and butter and asked for a plate and cutlery so she could share some of ours. All provided with a smile. THESE fish and chips are the freshest we’ve ever tasted. Fish being carried up stairs and cooked. Everything is cooked to order which takes around 10 mins but well worth the wait. We shall be definitely be visiting this place again.

This cheerful, bright and welcoming, small family run café in the centre of Scarborough has a varied menu and is suitable for both snacks and complete meals. It caters for special diet requirements in a friendly, helpful way. My son and I enjoyed our visit very much and look forward to going again.

This fish and chip shop is perfect for a nice chip shop tea. Me and my family came here and had the most amazing fish and chips before we went home from Scarborough. The staff were so kind and they got our really big order right and quickly, too. Would 100% reccomend as they all tasted great aswell.

We are a take away fish and chip shop with a few tables outside. Unfortunately we are not able to offer gluten free food at the moment. Our current opening hours are Monday to Saturday 4.30pm - 8.00pm and Sunday 4.30 pm - 7.30pm and Tuesday to Saturday 11.30 - 1.30pm. Please note that as the food is all fried to order our last orders are 5 minutes before closing.
Great fish and chips if you want standard fish and chips. Could do a children’s meal of fish strips like our local chippy as a small portion of fish and chips was too much for our children. The home made fishcake was lovely. Only cash...MoreDear Canada rocks Thanks for your review we are pleased to tell you that we now accept card payments and have introduced a children's special priced at £2.99 which includes a drink. We hope to see you again....

New year break in Scarborough looking for a meal on Saturday night saw this little gem in trip and thought lets give it a try we were not disappointed the room is very simple but clean and welcoming service friendly and efficient. We were a party of four so ordered garlic bread pesto to share tasty and brilliant for four, next the girls had Penne Gamberi and Tagliatelle Pescatore both were gorgeous especially the seafood meal full of great tastes and fresh seafood, Don had the Calzone large portion and packed with tomato chicken and salami tasting amazing I had to help him out to finish loved it my plate was the lobster ravioli great pasta and lovey filling in a creamy rich sauce, to accompany this we had a bottle of house red and house white both inexpensive but good.
This was one of the best Italian meals iv'e had for some time don't be put off when you enter by it's lack of high cost design features and expensive fancy Seating what you get here is great food, wine and service at a good price in the heart of Scarborough well done to all the staff next time were in town we will be back for more PBV
