During our recent visit to the Algarve, wonderful people introduced us to O Gralha and what a find. Had yummy meals the 7 times we went...loved the friendly service and the best Salmon we,ve tasted. We took several Portuguese people there who will be return customers. A bit hard to find and get there early before the good stuff runs out.

Been planning to visit here for the last 12 months and finally made it. It was well worth the wait and will definately go back.Although very quiet we had to wait a while for our food but that was probably because the one very nice waitress seemed to be doing everything, It was early in the week so possibly most staff had a hectic weekend and deserved a day off.Food was excellent and good value, Plan to visit again for lunch next time which I am sure will be equally good.

SB Messines is not exactly on the gourmet food trail, but good wholesome Portuguese food away from the tousim masses is an expectation in a decent sized town and when this restauarnt first reopened with new owners the locals & ex-pats alike thronged here. It was sadly not too last. Under staffed, rude to foreigners (and I can do food in any language, so my Portuguese ordering is pretty good so I am told!) lack of AC in the summer, intolerant about allowing you to sit outside (balmy nights = al fresco, not stuffy interior with no open windows or AC!!) the food quality plummeted about as fast as customer service. What a shame. We had high hopes. Dashed again........

Visited late one Tuesday evening. The owner was very friendly and welcoming. Good selection of regional food . We had an enjoyable meal, although the place was quiet, I could imagine it has a good atmosphere when busy. Its not the easiest place to find, head towards Algoz when leaving Messines, its on the left plenty of parking. Give it a go if nearby.

The menu has many very typical Portuguese dishes. Prices are low. Canteen type restaurant. Great value. A bit out of the way, but very much worth the effort.

A friend and I had Sunday roast on the special opening day of the restaurant. Rui Drifter started the music off at 4:30 and it went on til late. The food is typical English Sunday roast , so there were a lot of expats there enjoying the atmosphere. Wonderful couple who run it , talented and hard working and so friendly.

Fantastic Portuguese cuisine. Excellent value for money and the menu is varied. A favourite for us... Friendly, attentive staff too. Never too much trouble to serve a late meal, even at 22:00!

We went to this restaurant and had dishes if the day. Delicious home cooked food and smiling staff. One thing we found irritating, and we have discovered this practice in Portugal before...they bring bread, butter, sardine paste and olives, which we hadn't ordered. We had a couple of slices of bread and a few olives while we waited for the food to arrive and then a salad then they slapped an extra 6 euros on the bill.
A sneaky practice, which rather spoilt the occasion, not that we can't afford 5 euros, but just left with a feeling of being slightly conned.

The owner Maria Joao makes the best welcome to her guests and makes you always feel special.
She works very hard and is chef in the kitchen whilst other family members serve guests . Her son is especially good at English and is a true credit to the place.
Each day there is a special choice at lunchtimes to choose from and you usually pay around €10 to include maincourse wine and desert and coffee.
I tend to visit more in the evenings. What I can tell you is that her prawns with chips she will serve as a main course, even though it is listed as a starter. You cannot go wrong with this meal she has a unique recipe and it is a secret, but I have seen her throw in whiskey before! It is always my favourite meal here.
There is also a wine shop where you can buy the wines she serves - very good choices again and good value for money!
