Saint Maurice was according to tradition the leader of the legendary Roman Theban Legion in the 3rd century, and one of the favorite and most widely venerated saints of that group.

A charming restaurant high above the Rhone valley with superb food and delightful service. A small but perfectly presented and delivered menu. Try the Pintade roti stuffed with foods gras. Or market ish of the day - sole on the day I was there. Very good value and interesting wines by the glass or bottle. But beware the winding drive down the mountain.

Fabulous eats in a charming chateau atmosphere. The service is a tad Brusque but very professional, the small dining rooms add to the conviviality, and while the building is old, the decoration is recent and in good taste. Excellent steaks and seafood, and a fantastic wine menu. Be prepared to reserve.

Passing by Bex on my way to the Mountains, i first noticed the terasse and wanted to have a coffee.
Looking at the menu i descidet to extend my "stay" at Le Café Suisse...
It was an amaising experience. Living in the Geneva région, Bex is not my usual place to go for dinner.
All the food was amaisingly presented, and each plates were suprising. i really enjoyed my food and the service is excellent.

This family run restaurant is located in a small pictoresque village in the Mountains above Lavey les Bains. The dining room is simply decorated and it gives a very homey and personal type of atmosphere. We had a very fresh and tasty salad as a starter followed by the best fondue i have ever had in nearly 10 years in Switzerland made with very creamy local cheese and freshly picked mushrooms. It was amazing. The dessert was also delicious and tasted very home made. There is a Terrace outside with a view over the Mountains. We loved the place and the food and for sure will go back. This is not the place you should go to if you expect a 3 star michelin menu and service. It is simple but excellent in Its category of mountain-cozy restaurants!!!

The plates are just too big for the tables!
As they had just received a 'promotion' of Gault et Millau to 14/20 (a strange system of evaluating, that is to say 23% below the top!), we thought it still was worth trying out. We had lunch in the "cold", not so attractive and small-tabled cafe.
We were disappointed.
We both had the menu of the day, which consisted of: Salade d'avocate et grapefruit rose a la citronelle, followed by Jambon cuit a l'os, jus reduit au Porto; gratinee de pommes de terre Mont d'Or; farcie de Poireaux, and for dessert was a Clafoutis aux raisins et noisettes.
The wine was chosen from the open offering and was a Syrah 2010 "Henri Cruchon", which was very acceptable.
The avocado, which was served in it's shell was almost tasteless and needed at least some salt, which was not on the table (no space!) and which we had to ask for. As Bex has a famous salt mine, it supposedly came from there. (When the waitress was asked, she did not know!).
The ham was very dry and over-cooked and had to be sent back to the kitchen. The lady serving was very apologetic and the second portion was acceptable...but no more.
The Clafoutis was bland (my friend took one spoon and rejected it) and needed to be at least a bit sweeter.
Le vieux Prune after the meal at CHF 15 was the best part of the meal...even at that price!
They are surely less than 23 % from the top!

Carefully presented, gorgeously sumptuous traditional Italian. Without a doubt, not just one of the best Italian restaurants in the World, Mantisi is one of the best. Charming, pleasant and professional service, with an open kitchen vibing a warm Italian family atmosphere - plus breathtaking views - a total experience. Reservation is a must.

This little restaurant is in an ideal spot close to the Bains de Lavey, and although reviews had been mixed, I thought we'd give it a go following a family visit to the thermal baths at the weekend.
Firstly, I have to say that the location and the quality of the food are great. But something is badly wrong with the organisation of the kitchen - our order for a table of seven was pretty straightforward (rosti, salad, pizzas, pasta) but took over 45 mins to arrive, which is difficult with small children. One pizza and main-course salad didn't arrive at all, so I had to go and chase it up - I don't know if it had been forgotten, but it took another 10 mins to get to our table. The waitresses looked pretty hassled, and did a lot to avoid our attempts to attract their attention, so this kind of mix-up clearly wasn't unusual.
A real shame, as the food was lovely once it got to us, with the exception of some 'pommes-frites' that were stone cold. A bit more organisation with the order, some attention at the table, even a basket of bread for the kids would've rescued the meal, but as it was, we got a very cursory apology and decided not to stay for dessert.

Cozy and refined restaurant with bar lounge to catch aperitif A dining room as well as a restaurant and bar room Ideal for birthday, group meals or as a couple Simple and refined seasonal cuisine Terrace with view on the teeth of the midi You can call outside Do and opening Frédures if I am the I make you eat looking forward to welcoming you
Superb welcome and food at this restaurant which is little off the beaten track but well worth seeking out. I recommend the fondue vigneronne which is their speciality dish. A real treat, beautifully tender beef with homemade rustic chips, all fresh food which is well presented. I can't wait to return and try other dishes on the menu. Go and try it, you won't be disappointed!!

After scouting for about 50km for a suitable lunch stop I found this place.
I got a warm welcome and chose the plat du jour - which was excellent.
The service was friendly snd efficient and the pricing reasonable given that this is Switzerland.
I was very happy with my lunch stop!!
