Hidden away behind the local high school, you will find this excellent botanical garden. Although small, it packs a lot in and is a peaceful place to wander around and enjoy. We especially enjoyed the beautiful roses and the relaxing shady areas to rest on a hot day. A little gem!

The chateau (or castle) in Porrentruy is up on a hill overlooking the town. The Refous tower has belonged to the bishops of Basel since the 13th century and is where the Prince Bishops fled in exile during the 15th century when they built the castle proper. Now it serves as the Palais de Justice for the Jura Canton. In the entrance hall you can see the shields for all the regions in the Canton. The gaol was being upgraded and renovated when we were there but you could still into the dungeons (through a small door to the right of the gaol entrance and down the stone steps) Some of the cells are open and two have animated moving pictures projected on the wall - one depicting the life and death of one of the prisoners. You can climb up the Refous tower and half way up inside the tower is another animation. Apparently there is a walking tour given out by the information bureau which includes the castle. After looking out over the town (good views) you can also enter a building to the left and go down a spiral staircase (MAKE SURE YOU SWITCH ON THE LIGHTS AT THE TOP) to the lower area where the bishops went in the winter to be warm. This leads out onto the street. Well worth a visit and it is free!

The permanent collection is well presented and quite interesting. You can get up and close due to the small size of the museum which is none the less attached to a local research facility. The kids also loved the temporary exposition. It's relatively cheap, free for under 16's and 6CHF for adults. If you're in Porrentruy it's worth the visit!

located within the castle of Porrentruy, or rather being a part of its outer fortification, this tower is impressive in size. the entrance is located some 10m above the ground level, to be reached by climbing a metal staircase.

The Hotel Dieu is located in the heart of the Old Town. When I came by, I was amazed by the magnificence of this rather small building that is 250 years old hospital that now serves as city public library and cultural center. It was really worth stoping for about 10 minutes there...
