Founded by the Romans in 179 AD as Casta Regina (meaning Fortress by the River Regen), Regensburg is one of Germany's oldest towns. It was relatively spared from Allied bombings during World War II. Today, many flock to see the wonderfully intact old city and its many medieval structures. The 12th-century Stone Bridge was used by Crusaders en route to the Holy Land. The Regensburg Cathedral (or Dom St. Peter) is one of southern Germany's finest examples of Gothic architecture.

My customers and I (8 of us) stumbled into the place without any reservation. The place was packed. But the waiter brought out an extra table to prepare a place for us. How nice! And how the food tasted! The pizza tasted as good as...MoreCiao, many thanks for your feedback <3 <3. Kind regards, your L'Osteria Team

The historic and stylish ambience of the Leerer Beutel restaurant in the centre of Regensburg works well together with the first class cuisine, and the cultural highlights make this an experience for all of your senses. In the Leeren Beutel, you are served completely individual dishes in keeping with the time of year, which the chef is constantly changing to include new varieties. The regional Upper Palatinate cuisine is often inspired by what the staff have discovered on their own travels and then bring to the kitchen. This mix of traditional, seasonal cuisine makes for a great culinary experience for those looking for something different. In the same building as the Leere Beutel you can also visit a jazz club and the town gallery, so that here you can not only find enjoyment for the taste buds, but also for the eyes and ears!
Restaurant has the traditional German cuisine food is good, prices are oke, staff is friendly, lots of open wines.

This restaurant is in the courtyard of what used to be the Bishop's Palace. Very close to the Dom. We had pork steak, snitchzel, sole salad & zander filet.
Positives
The courtyard setting is great, right beside the Dom
Friendly attentive waitress
Wider than usual choice for a Bavarian restaurant
Good food
Negatives
We ordered 4 mains. They were served as they became available. My choice arrived after my friends had finished their meals. The waitress explained that they were short staffed in the kitchen. I would have given a higher rating except for this.

Walking along the raging rive Danube taking some photos of the old stone bridge and the swirling waters around it one could not miss the action around what they say is the oldest sausage house in Germany.
The whole time we were there there was not a break in the line and there were people milling around the old building every where , they all seemed to be enjoying the tucker.
We have heard that they are good but did not feel like standing in a long line in the cold and after nearly three weeks in Bavaria we are just about sausaged out. Next time maybe so my review really is to say we have experienced how very popular this place is a truly iconic sausage kitchen on the Danube,.

We really enjoyed the experience at this restaurant, whilst it is a very large place it has small areas that give sense of real intimacy. the cellar has great beer and 500 years of trade.

We took a suggestion from a friend and went here for a traditional lunch of sausage, potato salad, and local beer. This restaurant is in a great location in the center of town, the service however was very slow, the staff was not at all friendly, and the food quality rates as poor. The "local" sausage was like any breakfast sausage and the beer was tasteless.

First Room is just a gorgeous setting. Had the Bavarian white sausages with sweet mustard and a pretzel. The light ale (hell) was perfect. Staff was welcoming. I could not think of a better lunch in Regensburg. Only better if it was in the biergarten in the warmer weather.

The Regensburger Wheat-brewery was founded in 1620 as a municipal Enterprise. At present this brewing tradition, in accordance with the Bavarian Reinheitsgebot, the purity requirement, is being continued successfully by the family Deutsch, a line of publicans and butchers. Using a house-own recipe and directly in front of the customers, light and dark wheat beer as well as bottom-fermented beer are being brewed.
Targeted this restaurant before visiting Regensburg. My wife was hesitant to walk the few extra blocks, but she was really happy she did! If I'd known how much I'd like it, I would have carried her! Service was excellent, we ate outside. Beer was indescribable. Portions were plentiful (but not completely excessive like some places), and food was very well prepared and presented. Just loved it. Now I feel like I've eaten at a true quality German restaurant. Check that off the bucket list - but once may not be enough.

On a cool day we sat outside this lovely little café and watched the world go by, and families with children enjoying the Spring Sunshine. the service was really friendly and like many places blankets are there to keep you warm on a cool day. The cake was lovely and the menu looked good for snacks too.

Stopped off here on a warm Sunday afternoon. We enjoyed wine and salads and sat out just watching the world go by. The outside tables have sunshades which were much needed.
