Spent three nights in Saturnia, but unfortunately only got to try here on our last night (otherwise we would have ate here every night!)
The owner is delightful, eager to explain every dish and take time to interact with his customers. His wife is the chef, so he's done well for himself!
Every course was interesting (accompanied by the owner's descriptions), and we had a thoroughly enjoyable dinner as a consequence.
Warning, it's closed every Thursday.
Can't wait to return. Food, service and ambience sublime, and the price (€109 for three including generous drinks) drastically less than the over-priced I Due Cippi over the road.
Well done Bacco & Cerere. Fabulous.

THE RESTAURANT PIU 'ANCIENT Manciano We are in Maremma in the province of Grosseto and precisely in the historical center of Manciano but despite this we are within easy reach and we have no parking problems. Our trattoria in the tradition, maintains the characteristic appearance and atmosphere of the old inn: two rooms well-kept, rustic and cozy, the tables are made of wood and summer are put in the open; from the window of one of the rooms you can admire a beautiful landscape and in clear nights you can see, on the horizon, the coast and the sea. Our motto (we sent to those who work with us) is: friendliness and helpfulness but also attention to the customer who should feel at home. Our kitchen is typically Maremma, simple, tasty and attentive to local products
Don't let the "trattoria" label throw you, this place is a gem of a ristorante. The owners are personable characters who will make you feel like a regular, and the food....It's simply amazing non-touristy fare that will demonstrate what Tuscan cooking is all about. Simple, flavorful options that kept us coming back for more.
Limited Seating, so call ahead to ensure a spot. Well worth the effort.

This restaurant and bed and breakfast ticks all the boxes; a picturesque town, traditional dishes with a surprising touch and a lovely hostess. The best Italian food we have ever had -- try the fresh truffel and ravioli. Less is more. Pure local ingredients. All accompanied by perfectly balanced local wines. Paula, the hostess, is authentic and passionate, full of stories about the town of not even 100 people. Must eat! And book a room so that you can enjoy the wine!

Our chef knows how important it is, not to follow the fashions in the kitchen. For this, to eat well is for us synonymous of the equilibrium between past and present. We believe in the care of every one of our dishes and in the guardianship of traditional Italian cuisine.
We went to Re Sugo based on torgar's review. We weren't dissapointed. We arrived before sunset with the sun spilling over the grain fields, what a sight. Then we saw Re Sugo, we were surprised. A really modern restaurant with large windows that give you a great view of the surrounding fields, trees and a village upon a hilltop.
Once inside the experience continued. The service was very friendly and though it took us a while to decide on the food we weren't rushed a bit. The menu was filled with almost only regional dishes and same for the wine menu. I was shocked how reasonably priced everything was considering how fantastic the place looked. 8 euros for primi, I felt something was wrong haha.
We had the antipasti misto Re Sugo which was a treat. The presentation was fantastic and so was the food. The highlight for me was the maccheroni al cinghiale, pasta with wild boar sauce. I tried it out of curiosity (last time I had it I found the dish to be bland) and I wasn't dissapointed, I enjoyed it immensely.
My wife had the tortelli with ragu which was great and deep fried fish misto for secondo. The presentation (and taste) of that dish was fantastic too. My secondo was fillet steak with pepper sauce which was OK.
We had our two kids of 4 and 2 with us, and the lady and cook was very friendly and accomodating.
If you want the real Maremma food experience and taste excellent regional dishes this is the place to come. You'll have to drive an extra 15 mins from Grosseto to get here, but if you're a foodie this place is it.

The dinner in Le Fate Briache was the perfect end of a wonderful week in Massa Marittima. The food was simply delicious! Try the Tagliatelle Wild Boar Ragout, a dream.

Ristorantino piccolo, a gestione familiare, situato in aperta campagna tra la Tuscia e la Maremma. Si consiglia la prenotazione.Aperto sia a pranzo che a cena, giorno di chiusura: GIOVEDI'
after building our plumbing system perfectly, Lauro decided to give us superb dinners as well. Helped by his wife and daughter, he made us start with terrific appetizers - bruschetta, sott'oli, anchovies, vegetables from their kitchen garden. Then, obviuosly, Pitigliano's classic Pici all'agliata (kind of home made spaghetti with garlic and other spices in tomato sauce), the best Pici in twenty years of Pitigliano summers.
Our vegetarian dinners go on with more home grown vegetables and home made sweets - panna cotta, tiramisu, and others, all made by the young daughter who also very friendly waits at our table.
Don't aks me how the meat is - I don't know!
If you go there in the early evening in summer, the sunset in the fields is gorgeous.
The trip from Pitigliano, about 10 kms, is most pleasant through the woods.
Highly recommended.

A classical Tuscan restaurant in the shade of our medieval castle of Poggio alleMura. Taverna Banfi, open for lunch, is positioned beneath the vaulted arches of the former barrel cellars of the castle where Brunello once rested in large oak casks. In a very pleasant atmosphere, our menu offers the traditional dishes of Montalcino and Tuscany, enhanced by the freshness and authenticity of local ingredients. To respect the calm of our guests, pets are not allowed.
Had an enjoyable lunch at this restaurant. Went for the a la carte menu (which you have to ask for as they try to get you to go for the tasting menu). Scallops to start were cooked well and the pinci with wild boar ragu was nice, though it was a tad on the salty side and was not as good as the ragu we had at Castiglion del Bosco.

Nice little Osteria. We had ravioli with wild asparagus which was
delicious. Followed by beef steak tagliatelle with mushrooms. And fish cooked in parchment paper bag. House wine was good. We were happy to find this place because in the Montieri area where we were staying there are not many choices as to eating. A man and his wife run the eatery. Very cordial and most accommodating. We topped off the meal with coffee and Grappa. The grappa was a special reserve, opened at table. It was derived from the Ammarone grape husks and has an amber tone. This libation was exceptional in smoothness and taste.

An absolutely incredible dinner. The drive to the restaurant and the little town it was located all added to the experience and then to be sitting outside and have an incredible meal which included delicious prosciutto and salami as well as melanzane alla griglia. Followed by a selection of pastas one seeming to be better than the next in their own unique flavors to come to arrive at the secondi which was wild boar followed by pork. An abundant meal that touches the soul. The food was fantastic and you can't find a better meal with such fresh ingredients that you can taste with every bite. If you're in Italy then this is a restaurant worth making a beautiful detour to visit

This is a little gem, on the road to Montalcino in a tiny town of Sant Angelo Scalo. The chef is utterly brilliant and uses local ingredients. The cheese mousse with pear and honey has to be tasted to be believed. It is the food of angels. The spaghetti with courgette and pistachio pesto was so good we travelled the next day to get it again. Everyone was absolutely thrilled with the delicious plates of food. The desserts were also outstanding including a cheesecake that was so delicate and light. We ate in the garden. The cafe inside is decorated very simply and the surroundings aren't spectacular, but if the food is this great who cares. Service was efficient and friendly. t is closed on Monday.
