Small unique Scottish Restaurant tucked away just off the main street in Anstruther. A historic little restaurant in the heart of the East Neuk. Was once used as a store by fishermen for there fishing nets. And also used as a smokehouse and cooperage. It was converted into a Restaurant over 40 years ago, and is now owned by local Chef Billy Boyter and his family. The Restaurant also has a small bar selling locally produced beer and a good selection of Scottish Gins and Whiskies.
We visited on a Saturday night and enjoyed the tasting menu and wine pairing. The restaurant has a relaxed and informal feel and the service compliments this. The food from start to finish was perfect with every dish being uniquely memorable. It was explained well to us and Erica’s accompanying description of the fantastic wine with each dish was spot on. Erica really did make our evening a great one.

Always consider a visit to the Anstruther Fish Bar a must when in the area, however my recent visit did not live up to expectations. Dined on house speciality Battered Haddock and Chips. Batter was as described light and crispy but loads of batter not a lot of Haddock. Sorry will not be so keen to make a return visit.

We took the high tea option here last night and were not disappointed. Lots of nice fresh toast I had the fish which was so fresh tasty and piping hot. Then tea and cakes it was fab. I was so impressed with the very young efficient staff, nothing was too much trouble they were so cheery and pleasant. Just great.

Me and my husband used an itison voucher for a two course lunch for two. The starters where fine but we found the main meals disappointing. I had the quiche with potatoes and salad, which was mediocre, my husband had the fish and chips with very greasy batter. I would not be in any hurry to return.

Before I start, let me rate this superb recently refurbished tavern, as the boxes below seem to be locked out.
Service - ***** Food - ***** Value - *****.
We ate here using an Itison voucher taking the two course lunch option from an excellent menu. Very friendly staff looking to all your needs. This a quaint oldie world pub situated about 400 yards from Anstruther Harbour with plenty of tables.
Toilets were in first class ‘clean’ condition. Good selection of drinks on offer.
The best haddock I’ve had since a fish dish I had in Kinsale a couple of years ago.
What else would you expect from an East Neuk fishing port!.
It won’t be long before we’ll be back I’m sure, perhaps during in the Spring, to sit in the beer garden.

Every time we visit St Andrews we drive down the Craig Millar. Have a glass of bubbly in the bar (or on the patio overlooking the ocean) while you peruse the menu and order. You are then seated in the dining room, usually with a sea view, and get to try their wonderful food. The menu is fish-centric with options for carnivores and veggies too. Efficient, friendly and competent service, very good wine list. This place ticks all of the boxes. Reservations are staggered to give an unrushed dining experience.

Stopped for lunch in Pittenweem and came across this quaint chocolate shop with cafe to the rear. All looked promising, but failed to deliver. The tearoom was very cold despite log burner being on at far end of room. We had to keep our coats on. Ordered the crepe monsieur (ham and cheese) and Brie and cranberry crepe. Disappointed in presentation. Both dishes did not look appetising with garnish/salad or whatever missing. Not enough to even to fill a child! Toilet facilities left a lot to be desired. One outside toilet for ladies and gents - although it was very clean. Staff were very pleasant and attentive. We ended up going elsewhere for another snack.

The Ship Inn at Elie in Fife has long been one of Scotland's most iconic pubs, famous for its great views, stunning location, and even as the only pub in the world to have a cricket team with a pitch on the beach. The owners, Graham and Rachel Bucknall, who also run the Bridge Inn at Ratho (named as AA Pub of the Year in September 2014) purchased the Ship Inn, a pub they both knew very well, in late 2014. After a major 6-month renovation programme, they re-opened a transformed Ship Inn in the summer of 2015. 6 beautiful bedrooms were opened in March 2016. The inn is part of a row of old cottages by the harbour. At its heart is the bar where the comfy chairs and sofas beside the open fires and wood-burning stoves make a welcome sight, especially when it's windy and rainy outside. You are more than welcome just to call in for a coffee, but it's worth stopping longer for a pint, a whisky or a meal in the upstairs restaurant with its views of the bay. The same menu is offered throughout the inn - and if you have your dog with you, he or she is very welcome to join you downstairs - water, treats and even dog beds are provided. The food is of the hearty pub variety, but seafood, locally caught, is high on the menu. Graham and Rachel have also created delightful double and twin bedrooms, all with views of Elie Bay and the Firth of Forth. The Ship Inn is unique in the fact that it has the only cricket team in the UK that plays matches on the beach. From May to September, depending on the tide and after the sand has been rolled flat, the Ship's team hosts matches for other Scottish teams and touring teams from all over the world.
Walked through snow from St Monans to get here and it was well worth the effort. The artichoke soup and homemade bread were excellent. My son would love the recipe for your pesto bread. My husband enjoyed a large pot of mussels. Service was efficient and very friendly. Hope to get back when we next visit the area

Standard golf club restaurant fare. Well presented by friendly staff. Tasty, generous proportions. Gorgeous views over the Forth to the May Island and the Lothians. Worth a visit.
