In the middle of nowhere.... Morondava is just a beach little town to recover your energy from the long trip till the l'Avenue des baobabs or the amazing walking in Tsingy Forest or in the less awesome Kirindy Forest. Want to have fun in this little town during the night? Go to L'Oasis Hotel they have the unique reggae bar and its owner/musician Jean de La Rasta. The place is a spot for locals and foreigners to have good music, unique decoration, drinks or fresh seafood. The malagasy owner Jean is amazing and we had good time together. His history is incredible and he speaks English (saved my life). Faly mahalala anao Jean de La Rasta and Morondava!!! Mandra-pihaona!

It is a realistic hotel. No special things compared to the hotel along the Nosy Kely road. This location inside the city is good if you want to " feel local".

A wonderful relaxing cafe/restaurant beside the mangroves, near the beach.
Very quick pizzas. Yummy to boot!
From all the restaurants we went to in Madagascar this one was the fullest both times so guessing others agree with our thoughts that it's really good.
Decent midrange prices too.
Well worth a visit.

Le Masoandro Restaurant & Bar "The Sunshine" Restaurant & Bar offers a wonderfully relaxed and comfortable setting. Guests are greeted with quality service and a smile, and have the opportunity to dine on some of the finest cuisine to be found anywhere. The menu selection is based on the flavorful fruits, vegetables, seafood, meats and cheeses of the country. Each day local fishermen deliver their catch and our chefs prepare the "Fruits of the Sea" to perfection. House specials include crab and BBQ jumbo shrimp - with that special Malagasy touch. The large thatch-roofed restaurant is the perfect place to enjoy a superb meal, and a wondrous sunset over the Mozambique Channel. Our full service bar features Yvettes's famous Coco Rum, a variety of local libations and Morondava's widest selection of imported whisky and scotch.
Breakfast was nice and you could get eggs to order, fruit, pastries, juices, coffee. All good. Especially liked the local jam and honey.
Lunch was our favorite meal because you didn't end up with too much food. Pretty much the same menu as dinner but dinner comes with 3 courses - all of them humongous.
We especially enjoyed the garlic crab (in broth) served with lots of fresh bread. We also loved the Romazava - a one pot dish of chicken, pork or beef stewed in ginger-flavored broth with lots of local greens, plus rice of course.
Portion sizes for fish, beef, chicken, etc had to be at least 12 to 16 ounces, plus starch and vegetable. I don't know how anyone could eat a large appetizer plus this huge plate full. And then dessert?!! Unless your dinner is included in your room rate, I recommend you split a meal.
Seating is "open air" so bring a sweater for cooler evenings and wear mosquito repellent. Full bar; decent wine list; cold beer.

I have been there twice, the first time was good, the second at best soso. I had the langouste, they were completely dry and chewy. The other day the zebu was nice.

Location is spectacular. Service good. Food excellent! Had huge grilled prawns that were fantastic. You will compete with the flies for your food. It is a good value. No wifi.

I'm really sorry to write such a bad review because the restaurant looked very nice and had a great atmosphere. Our food looked and tasted delicious, also it was plentiful. I had coconut shrimps, my husband paella. However, right after getting back to the hotel, I got strong diarrhea - don't know if it was the coconut, the shrimps or the baobab juice I drank, but I never got such a strong negative reaction to food whilst travelling through Madagascar, only here. Whatever the reason was, in my opinion it is not acceptable to end up in such a condition after a restaurant visit.

Madabar is situated a bit far from the center of Morondava and even much further from the beach. Madabar is the rendezvous of the French residents of the area which can be a bit of a problem for the non-French speaking guests but the food is quite good and the place is worth a meal.

nice setting, rendez vous of the local vahazahs, a small restaurant near the water at the end of a corridor between two shops in nosykely, nice food and one of the best chocolate mousses !
