Mamma Mia is our favorite Italian restaurant in Leer. It's located at the eastern end of the pedestrian mall. The menu contains the usual pizzas and pastas, but also steaks, seafood and salads. If you are looking for something you don't find on the menu, just ask Boris or Salvatore for it. My favorite is tortellini Mamma Mia style. Yummy!!!

I was wondering around, last night with my friends looking for a place to dine and it was like an adventure.... No reservation, so almost impossible in this places to find tables. Strange! Anyway, we ended up in "Bey Tony"; very nice and elegant atmosfere, the waiter welcomed me and right away he arranged a table for the 3 of us even though the restaurant was full.
English menu was given to us, so it was easy to order food which was all of excellent quality. The best rump steak I had in this region. A friend of mine had the shrimps and wow! Fresh and tender!
Unfortunately I cannot judge the wine list as we all had a beer but the list looked good and long, so of a good selection.
I will go back there again.

Over the years I've come here a lot to just have a coffee with a friend, lunch or dinner. The service has its up and downs, but it was never really bad considering that mostly students are working there.
The food was usually good, some meals a bit over-priced though.
The most spectacular thing is the location though. It's directly next to the harbour and in summer you can see many rowers and some boats going up and down. It's just outside the main shopping street, a 300m walk maybe. Wonderful on a nice summer day.
It's not what it used to be a couple of years ago but it's still relatively solid, not outstanding but not really bad either, depends on the waiter/waitress you get. But usually people are nice if you're nice towards them. Have had lots of awesome cocktail nights here.

We were traveling back from Sweden through Germany and stopped over for the night in Leer on the river Ems, near the border with the Netherlands. Last time we stopped in this historic old town there was a classic boating festival and we had snacked in the busy cobbled square near the old rat haus and overlooking the river where all the bustle of the festival was going on. This time there was a rowing festival over the weekend and skullers and eights were all over the riverbank just down river. We walked from our hotel overlooking the rowing activities and up to the Restaurant Waage. It was warm enough in early September to sit out at a candlelit table under a full moon.
Absolutely 100% excellent service - friendly waitress gave us all the time we wanted and was happy to explain all. I had a "crab capuccino" with crab cake to start with. Never had it before - but the chef here had produced it beautifully - a superb crab bisque soup topped with foamy cream and accompanying crab cake and lime. Truly delicious. I thne had a silroin steak and rosemary potatoes and green beans. Perfect. My partner had the durade - on the bone - beautifully cooked - served with lovely chips and a well seasoned salad.
They had tables inside the restaurant which looked very attractive - but were all booked out. So iof you're in town on a Saturday nighty - book ahead.

We had a great birthday dinner at Restaurant Perior in Leer. The restaurant offered a special birthday dinner for their 1st year of business in the nice town of Leer. We have enjoyed the good food and service and we can recomment the restaurant. The ambiente is nice and they offer a winter garden with a lovely view into the backyards. The regular menues are pretty expensive while we had a special rate for this dinner. But the food is very good, interesting combinations and the wine was excellent.

Have walked past this particular establishment a number of times with the full intention to try it one day. It is very well situated in the Altstadt of Leer, directly next to the Rathaus, and superficially at least, it appears to be a well conceived specialist seafood restaurant.
Well, I have now visited it, and yes, it is a specialist seafood restaurant. On my visit however (around 8.30pm on a Friday night), it was almost empty - and I think I know why.
The meal I had "Kabeljaufilet mit Bratkartoffeln" (Cod filet with roasted potatoes) was preceded by what can only be described as a cabbage stalk off-cut salad in a store-bought 'French' dressing. It was unpleasant, chewy and had an odd after-flavour. The fish dish itself also had a few unpleasant surprises, most notably a beige sour tasting parsley sauce and burnt potatoes. I have to admit that the cold langustine that garnishes the plate (and is apparently served with all fish dishes) was somewhat unappealing to me as well - however this could be down to personal preference.
The fish itself was of a hearty size, but the skin had only been crisped up in places, and in some of these had been rendered sloppy again by the unaccountable sauce.
The establishment itself felt a little thrown together. It is of a fair size and could conceivably be of appeal to largish parties. The furniture is aged and feels a little worn out. Bizarrely, the menu seems to be sponsored on each page by local businesses, although it could conceivably be seen as a bit quirky, in reality it felt like they may be struggling a little.
I personally do not feel the need to try any other dishes from the menu and as such shall favour other local businesses in the future.
If you, having read this, are unsure what to think of it - visit it only if you have enough time on your trip to sample other restaurants, I think you will be disappointed.

I have eaten here on a number of occasions on an extended business trip. The food has always been satisfactory, hot, fresh and tasty, if fairly Germanized versions of traditional Greek fare.
On arrival I was given a shot-glass of semi-frozen complimentary Ouzo, and, when I discovered that the smoking room was climate controlled, I found that it was a very pleasant meal indeed (the majority of the restaurant caters for non-smokers, however there is no aircon).
I had the "Seezungenfilet mit Folienkartoffel" and a "Giros in Pfefferrahmsosse" (salt battered sole fillets with a foil wrapped baked potato, and Giros with a pepper-cream sauce). Both were as mentioned fresh and tasty, and went down well with a glass of beer. The staff were a pleasure: "I grew up on a Greek island where I had to entertain tourists from many countries" one poly-linguistic waiter told me, after I expressed my surprise on having heard him speak three languages in a matter of ten minutes.
Prices are reasonable, and I recommend them over their neighbors at the "Mexican" Polo Loco.

This coffee shop is unlike any other I have ever been too. Do not expect a cheap copy of a Starbucks. This is an true delicious experience of great tasting pastries and a superb Sunday breakfast offering. Antik Cafe is so called because of its furnishings and decorations: sterling silver items, porcelain figurines, old paintings. One has the feeling that a pompous Viennese upper class establishment has suddenly been transferred to this small German touristy town. If your travels bring you to Leer or a city nearby, it is definitely worth a visit... or more, if your stay allows.

This modern Italian theme waterside restaurant in Leer serves a nice choice of Italian and fish dishes with a nice ambiance and pleasant staff who speak English. It is located in the new up-market development of waterside apartments and businesses. We ate there on a cold Monday evening in March and the restaurant was quite full of locals enjoying the excellent cuisine. We shall come back again, because there are very few decent restaurants in Leer, Ostfriesland.
