Things to do in La Gaulette

The restaurant is situated on the main road from La Gaulette to Le Morne approx. 1.5 km from La Gaulette Center in a village called Cotteau Raffin.
Convieniently situated from my accomodation I had my first dinner there after arriving on the island - and it was the WORST food I had had in a long, long, long, long, long time!
After the heart-of-palm gratin I had ordered was not available and after the long-distance flight I felt like having a vegetarian supper, I went for the only other option: vegetable gratin.
What arrived after an unacceptably long waiting time was: 1 cup of green peas and diced carrots straight from the freezer in an absolutely tasteless, white, gooey sauce served in a pretty seashell. The center was still cold and the carrots had this disgusting rubbery texture they use to have when having been frozen ... no salt, no pepper, no cheese, no spices ... no trad. local vegetables (like chouchou or the like) ... and the price was the equivalent of 12 €.
When I complained, no offer to even properly heat the dish properly but the harsh remark, that everybody else liked what they cooked ... well, well, I should have consulted Tripadvisor first and it does not look that way here!
I doubt any half-starved street-dog would have eaten this.

A local style surfers restaurant and bar, serving local cuisine and awesome pizza. We serve local phoenix beer on draft, a varied wine selection, cocktails and mocktails
We ate here thrice during our stay at La Gaulette for a kiting holiday in Le Morne. We tried all the restaurants in La Gaulette and the food and cocktails here were by far the best, not to mention the service was swift which cannot be said of any of the other establishments.
This is a small restaurant but serves excellent thin Italian pizza (attributed to the Italian chef) and very good cocktails as well as some traditional Maurtitian curries that my husband found very good. This is a popular haunt for the kitesurfing community so a very sociable spot, particularly in high kiting season, but also on Fridays and weekends.
Not to be missed!

Enso Restaurant & Lounge Bar is a unique Restaurant with LIVE music that is played every weekend. You will get to enjoy delicious LOCAL and INTERNATIONAL food in cozy environment. Enso is a great mix of locals, surfers and other tourists.
We stopped by for a speedy dinner, unfortunately service was slow, we waited and eventually drinks arrived followed by food we all chose the seafood mixed grill which as lovely, the tuna sashimi was part sashimi part carpaccio, but tender and tasty. Nice bar with a different selection of cocklails made with Chameral rum.

I came here by chance and I was very pleased with the food. Had the calamari salad and the deer curry, both delicious! However, the service is VERY SLOW (around 30min wait for each dish) so don't come here for a quick bite but for a loooong nice dinner. It is not very pricy. 2 courses plus water 700 rupies.

Seem to think all tourists are wealthy and charge accordingly. Many better value restaurants in Black River district.

Just had a fantastic meal here. A very simple menu but the food was well presented, really tasty and very good value. The restaurant has no pretensions but is definitely worth a visit. Excellent service but being cash as they do not take cards.

The Plantation Club is a restaurant serving modern Mauritian cuisine. The a la carte menu is the perfect meeting of European and Mauritian know-how working its magic on choice local fresh products. Nestled away in a tropical garden of the Outrigger Mauritius Beach Resort and overlooking sugar cane fields and Mountains, it features also a private pool, outdoor bar and lounge area.
We were staying at the Outrigger Resort. We visited the Plantation Club four times on our holiday. Twice was for a Saga Gala Dinner. Once for the Lobster cooked eight different ways and one for a fantastic meal with lobster as the main course.
It is the best food and service that I have had anywhere. From the sumptuous food to the fantastic wine list to the excellent service. Nothing was to much trouble.
Geert the Executive Chef even came into our private dining room for a chat, What a lovely person. Thank you to everyone at the Plantation Club that made our visit so special.
We will be back.
