When on the "Schöckl" eat at the Stubenberg Haus and enjoy the fantastic view over Graz and the Koralpe up to Hungary and Slovenia. Sit on the nice Terrace and have a Kaiserschmarrn or one of the other excellent dishes. They even have rooms for the night, so this is even an option when having to much beer or wine to be able to drive home!

We visited the restaurant during a day trip into the Teichalm region. The food was good and reasonably priced. A very cosy atmosphere - typical Austrian decor with waitresses and waiters in local costume. Lovely warm fire, pleasant service.

We had 4 different dishes, including one half-portion for a child (they do not offer a kid's menu, but smaller portions, and you can negotiate everything with the super-friendly and fun waiter) and all were excellent. We enjoyed a nice communication with waiters and had a great dinner.

This is actually a very good restaurant with great local cuisine that would deserve the full 5 points. I wish I understood why management tortures its guests (average age +50 years) with disco music that is so loud that it cannot be called "background music" anymore. If they had asked (or understood) their guests, they would know that +80% of them do not want any background music over lunch/dinner, but only to enjoy food and to have a nice discussion with the other guests on their table. Noise pollution can easily be prevented, and the management just needs to follow the general and obvious trend in customers' requirments towards a quiet restaurant ambience.

The pizzeria is with a very good quality here.
Very nice the location, good the staff.
Peggau has some nice places around that you can visit (i'e a nice cave).
La cucina from some Italian owners, has some great pizza both in size and taste.
They really push forward the standard of pizza in Austria

Excellent food, reasonably priced, varied menu. I really enjoyed my salad with local pumpkin seed oil dressing. Turkey and pork schnitzel- both delicious. Very nice family owned place. Desserts looked wonderful but we didn't have any. Its a little out of the way but we had visited the Lurgrotte Cave (highly reccomended) so we were nearby.

My wife and I recently visited the quaint little town of Frohnleiten in Styria. We found this fine basic guesthouse in the center of town on the main square. The small dining room was packed with locals enjoying to good and very reasonable food.
It seems the establishment features a different daily lunch special (€7-10) consisting of a 3 course meal of - soup, main course and dessert.
Nothing fancy, but good basic traditional food. If you want typical, this is a safe bet.

The Volkshaus is a very popular place, in particular during summer due to its large garden that can accommodate up to 200 people and its large menu. However, during Christmas week, the restaurant operated with a scaled down menu that lacked imagination. Some of the dishes weren’t even available. The quality of meats was poor. Both the Schweinsschnitzel and the Zwiebelrostbraten (onion-topped roast beef with gravy) were tough, although the sauce for the latter was much better than expected. The chicken breast with ham and cheese was good but the risotto did not live up to our expectations. The risotto was bland with not the slightest hint of cheese. The French onion soup had a nice, strong flavor but the cheese was of low quality. The Weissburgunder from Skoff, a Styrian wine, was a good choice while the Blaufraenkisch lacked body. Unfortunately, the service was even a bigger biggest disappointment than the food. The young gentlemen did the bare minimum, made no effort to offer alternative dishes for one of our vegetarian friends, and was nowhere to be seen when we wanted to pay. Overall we paid E60 for 4. Compared to other local restaurants the Volkshaus is overpriced for the quality of food and service it offers. It may take a lot of convincing for me to return to this place.

We ate here three times in the first week of February this year (and three times in the same week last year too - a colleague recommended it). It's closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, so the fact that we went there three evenings out of five each week says something about the food here!
We were a party of seven, including three children, and tried very many items on the menu.
Salads, soups, savoury dumplings, sweet dumplings. All were excellent. (My overall favourite were the apple dumplings - really spectacular!)
The quality of the food, the presentation and the friendly service combined to make it a wonderful visit every time.
I'm English and know that the word dumpling strikes fear into an Englishman's heart!
Have no fear - the dumplings here are spectacularly good.
Bonus - they don't serve fizzy drinks. Carafes of tap water are provided. Quality juices from a local producer.
Good wines as well (the Zweigelt was very good).
If you're in the area, I highly recommend a visit to Knödelzeit.
(Note: The location on the map on tripadvsior is incorrect. Knödelzeit is in Passail, not Semriach).
