The historical experimentThe medieval construction site, located in the southern part of Friesach (the oldest city of Carinthia) which spans over 6.5 hectares, presents a great historical experiment to its visitors. A medieval castle is being erected – with medieval methods and without modern tools. No motors or electricity are used, only human effort with the aid of animals. The highest possible authenticity is the main aim of this construction site. Additionally, only natural materials like wood, stone, lime, sand, and water are being used.Opening hours:Individual visitors are asked to take guided tours availabledaily at 9:30 am, 11:00 am, 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm.
...not too exciting. No enthusiasm of anybody. They still would have many years to go - but I am sure noone will pay the bill that long.

From the town center, Hauptplatz, you can climb the stairs all the way up to Petersburg castle and the city museum. There is also a chapel at the top and great views of the entire town, the old town walls and the countryside surrounding the town. There is a small restaurant at the castle. The museum is housed within the castle.
the town itself is beautiful and a nice place to walk around.

Originally built in the 12th Century as a Romanesque church, St. Bartholomaus has suffered repeated fires and has been repaired and renovated several times. It is beautifully situated on the town square and at the foot of the path to the castle ruin above.
Should you be nearby, the town is a must to see. St. Bartholomaus is part of this lovely town and contributes to the town's beauty.

Grazie
