One of the most beautiful addresses in Central Carinthia with authentic regional cuisine, cozy rooms radiating a country ambience, and a fantastic museum of vintage vehicles. The lovingly designed dining rooms represent the beating culinary heart of the Seppenbauer: Traditional recipes and almost exclusively regional ingredients characterize their typical Carinthian menu, enriched by exquisite highlights from the Alps-Adriatic world. New landlords Maruska and Guido Schwengersbauer, after having spent successful years in Istria, still nurture excellent relationships with top producers there. Whether world-class olive oil, top-quality wines or truffles - connoisseurs of fine food are constantly greeted by high-carat surprises here at the Seppenbauer. 36 beautiful rooms that embody the essence of this country setting recommend themselves for an overnight stay or holiday escape from the daily routine - offering ample space and luxurious baths, the décor featuring cozy fabrics and warm woods. The extensive wellness area is in a class of its own: Aside from a traditional steam bath, a saltwater steam bath, organic herbal sauna, infrared cabin, shower facilities with a crushed-ice tower and broad relaxation zones, it also awaits guests with original spa extras such as the Brewery Sauna and even a hot tub in a giant beer vat. Two bowling lanes, state-of-the-art seminar rooms, an events hall for up to 450 people, a studio kitchen for cooking courses and their own Village Bakery add the ideal finishing touches. Guests should certainly not forego a visit to their vintage vehicle museum, with extraordinary exhibits ranging from Rolls-Royces, Bentleys and Porsches, to a unique collection of Vespas and motorbikes, and even the original prototype of an airplane.
Seppenbauer is a restaurant, hotel and vintage car museum in the small village of St Salvator, a few minutes drive from the town of Friesach. It opened last year on the site of a former inn and to all appearances no expense has been spared. The bar area is the more traditional and atmospheric of the rooms, and beyond that is a big dining area that is lighter, a bit more modern and is non-smoking. There is also a beer garden at the back of the hotel.
The food is mainly traditional Austrian with favourites such as schnitzels, tafelspitz and venison casserole. There are also seasonal and daily specials. Although I have never tried them, they offer special meals for two or more - platters of grilled meats with rice, fries, various sauces and salads. They also do a mixed schnitzel platter and a fish platter. These cost from 12 euro to 14 euro per person. A schnitzel with fries or potato salad costs 8 euro and is for hearty appetites only as the schnitzel is almost the size of a dinner plate. Soups are great, especially the summer tomato soup and the frittaten. Various puddings include a fantastic Metnitz valley honey parfait with fruits. There is a children's menu with plenty of choice and it's good value.
Service is friendly and efficient and when the place is really busy - which is quite often - they warn you in advance that the food might take a while to arrive. Tables in the rear dining area are bookable but the bar area doesn't have a booking system. The car museum upstairs is well worth a visit too.
I can highly recommend the Seppenbauer and it's welcome new addition to the restaurants in the Metnitz valley.

What a find this turned out to be! It's just beside the main road. It has a good sized car-park. There is an inside eating area, a partially covered reating area to the rear and to the side there is a fine garden restaurant. Although the inn is just off the main road, the area itself is picturesque and worth a visit.
The reception was warm and friendly. The restaurant staff spoke good English and we had no problem being understood. The food is varied with local Styrian dishes and also a wide variety of other dishes. The food was well cooked and beautifully served. The portions were large. They stock a few varieties of beer and their wine is good.
The toilet facilities were exceptionally clean and it's plain that a high standard of hygiene is maintained.
The price was reasonable and we all had a wonderful time.

Bachler in Althofen is a primordial rock of Carinthia’s top dining culture, and a paradise for cheese aficionados. The funny thing is, it was never planned that way....But now, after 30 years of serving good times to our guests, we are proud to see, that the way we tooked is fullfilling our guests and us as well.

See-feel-experie-enjoy. The Wachsstub`n with café is located in the historic granary in the court of Friesach

Nette Bedienung.

The pizzeria is with a very good quality here.
Very nice the location, good the staff.
Peggau has some nice places around that you can visit (i'e a nice cave).
La cucina from some Italian owners, has some great pizza both in size and taste.
They really push forward the standard of pizza in Austria
