Eden Rock is one of the largest indoor bouldering walls in England. We have something for everyone, even if you've never tried bouldering or rock climbing before.
Been to 2 minions lessons now with my 5 year old. Staff are great and the lessons are fun. £4 for a half hour lesson much rather she was doing this and learning something then at soft play!

The Museum is open from Easter until the last weekend in October on a Friday & Saturday. We are also open on the Bank Holiday Mondays. We have some exciting new exhibits demonstrating the close ties that existed between the RAF and the City of Carlisle. We're also home to a collection of aircraft, aviation artifact's and displays some reflecting Britain's position as a world leader in aircraft design and innovation and the main developer and manufacturer of a reliable jet engine. The museum's primary objective is the preservation of our Aviation heritage, its display and interpretation. Take a nostalgic journey back to Wartime Cumberland or climb aboard a Vulcan Bomber and experience the conditions the crew faced that would have had to deliver Britain's nuclear deterrent in the 60's. The museum is a Registered Charity and is run by a dedicated team of friendly and enthusiastic volunteers who give up their free time to painstakingly restore many of the exhibits. Through their love and knowledge they are preserving aviation history for generations to come.
We put the postcode into the sat nav which took us to some road closed sections near the museum but we got there eventually. Lots to see inside the museum and very informative. A little annoying that having picked up goods to the value of around £25 in the gift shop, the Scottish lady wouldn't serve us while people wanted to pay to come in the museum - I thought we'd turned invisible. Plane exhibits outside to look round but could do with some signs to tell you how to get to the Vulcan which we stood outside but couldn't go up into as there were too many people in a large group in front of us. That was disappointing for our 9 year old and we didn't want to hang around as it was blowing a gale.

Attended our children's awards night that was held at this venue and was blown away by what a stunning Cathedral this is. Lovely place to experience such a historic building in a very pretty part of the city.

Fabulous place for a fun walk, feed the ducks etc. Child, buggy and dog friendly.
A small café opens limited hours and ice-creams available.
A small play park also available but close to the waters edge and no fence to stop dogs getting in or children running out so take care.
Boats available to hire sometimes but check before travelling.
Plenty of pay and display parking available however this is a bit of a rip off.

This walk is not the easiest, this is coming from somebody that has climbed Mountains.
You will definitely need a good pair or walking shoes, something warm and waterproof! Oh and the most important part... Snacks!
The walk is lovely but has lots of inclines and stones to step on. There is an easier walk which is not as close to the wall, here it is walking on the hills with the sheep. It is not as challenging as there is no steep climbs on rock. There is a lovely section of the wall covered and enclosed in the trees which was nice.

'Ordinary people doing extraordinary things' Cumbria's Museum of Military Life is a new interactive visitor attraction for all ages located in Carlisle Castle. The Museum tells the 300 year story of the history of The Border Regiment and its successors through audio/visual displays, artefacts, photographs and interactive environments. The Museum also facilitates research enquiries.
A lovely museum packed with high quality information spanning a vast range of dates. Very informative and not too large. Some museums can be just a little too big... but this one was perfect in that you could comfortably visit each exhibit without time passing by too much.

Looking for things to do or places to visit in the Lake District & Cumbria? For children’s days out in the Lake District & Cumbria, Hadrian’s Wall or South-West Scotland Walby Farm Park has it all! Enjoy a family day out at Walby Farm Park!Fun for all the family come rain or shine! Walby Farm Park, just 4 miles from Carlisle and the M6 motorway (J44), is a great day out for the whole family. Exciting outdoor play areas, lots of animal friends, including many rare breeds and Cumbria’s biggest indoor play area, there really is something for everyone! Families, schools, groups and birthday parties can ‘Meet the Animals’, take a stroll along the farm’s nature trail or just relax in our Curly Tails Cafe, open daily serving delicious hot and cold home-cooked food.
Friendly and helpful staff kept the day running smoothly as 12 children ran wild in the large slide filled play area, and outside swings, trampolines and more. Our son thought it was amazing, and his friends had a lot of fun. Even getting to pet the animals & feed the bunnies.

Visited with my wife recently before returning to our home following a trip to Scotland. Being English Heritage members it was free, for others I think its £6.80 (perhaps a little expensive because there’s really not that much to see). The castle was impressive but the best bit was the military museum. In truth, it get the most from a trip to the castle, you really need the audio guide because, otherwise, it’s not too clear what’s in view and its significance. Nevertheless, a very nice visit.
