We had for dinner two different fish dishes, one was Sandre ( Zander ) and the other one was Cabillaud ( Cod ), both very good, so were the vegetables that were served on the side. The food was served nicely and aesthetically.
We added a glass of red wine and a glass of white wine for 2.80 Euro each. The wines were very good and interesting.
Service was professional, efficient and courteous.
The only problem was the fact that although it was very hot, that restaurant doesn't have even a ventilator, not to mention air conditioning.

This is our favorite place! We have to eat here at least a couple of times every time we visit Dole.
The restaurant is situated in a cellar with the fireplace/oven in the Seating area. The atmospere is so warm and cosy and the staff is very friendly.
There are local dishes on the menu, all well prepared, fresh and tasty. We highly recommend the steak tartare.
And then the pizzas; they are dreamy - the best I've ever had! The bread is crisp and so good, it's worth eating alone. The cheese is tasty and high quality. You have to try one..
It might be a good idea to book a table, the place is very well visited.

The menu is quite limited, but for us (non-vegetarian or other peculiarities) it wasn't hard to find something. Had the foie gras tatin and lamb shoulder, followed by cheese rather than dessert. The food was good (average for the cheese), but service was rather cold. No explanation or asking how it was (although we speak French), just serving and taking away. Same for the other tables.
The outside tables are lovely for summer evenings.

We stayed one night in the Pruneaux room, which had a lovey view of the Gardens and a big whirpool bath. It wasn't warm enough to have a swim, but the tree garden was very pretty and pleasing for a pre dinner stroll. Dinner was a gastronomic feast with the ubiquitous amuse bouches before starters and dessert, then petit fours after dessert! Very talented cooking with real surprises. Perfect for a one night stop to try the food and nip into Dole for the day, which is a beautiful town.
Breakfast was served in a kitchen style room so that you felt as though you were staying at a friends house. Simple continental, but after the nights dinner, you don't need much more.

La Chaumiere was recommended to us by the hotel we stayed in. We were not disapointed. We were there for lunch and choose the lunch menu. It was simply great and more than worth the money. There were two amuse bouche to start for example and also sweets with the coffee. We had a two course menu and ended up well fed. Our dog was also very welcome and we will go back in September, when we stay in the area again. The staff was very friendly and always there when needed.

Down by the canals of Dole this is a cool cafe/restaurant to stop and refresh the body in splendid surroundings .
Make sure you pop into the tunnel alleyway, adjacent, and view the springs.
Dole is an excellent and pretty town to visit. Especially the birth place of Louis Pasteur and the church.

Not to be missed! Deserves and even higher ranking!
What can one say……the superlatives keep coming yet gain another young couple making a great venue with all the right ingredients. You’ll find it hard to discover a better establishment in this area, our party of four were unanimous that it was one of the best meals we’d had in France to date. Savoury madelenes came with the aperatifs and despite the fact the place was packed on a Tuesday night the service was excellent. Following up with entrees of fois gras or lobster salad were simply faultless. A reasonably priced Pouilly Fuisse to accompany starters was excellent as was the Loire valley pinot noir that came with the mains of pigeon served with some of the best roast potatoes I can remember. Others had the veal and were equally pleased. Desserts were brilliant and the white chocolate log with accompaniments was simply divine…no really , it was!
So refreshing to find a restaurant willing to make the outside Terrace non smoking………….if only others would follow suite!
All up one of the best meals in France we have had in a long time.

This Lyonnais-style restaurant features bistro-style dishes. The food was hearty and plentiful but the ambiance is somewhat lacking as it’s a large room with very bright lighting. I’d designate this as a ‘Good’ restaurant and certainly worth trying but not worth going out of your way for.

It may seem surprising to go to a Japanese restaurant in Dole, where the local culinary tradition is more focused on cheese and hearty dishes. But this one is of amazing quality: very fresh and well mastered preparations, inventive main dishes, with expertly marinated, extra-tender meats, lovely desserts, a fine choice of sake to go with your menu. The attentive and kind waiters may keep you waiting, but it is a small price for genuine cuisine - you can actually see the chef delivering it all. The setting is also quite attractive. While it is not cheap, and the choice is not enormous (but original), quite frankly this is the best quality I have found in any Japanese restaurant in western Europe (including many in Paris or London). Recommended!

Ok, so this wasn’t our first choice but like so many places in France on a Monday night, beggars can’t be choosers right? Well it turns out that this could easily have been our first pick. Run by a talented young German chef and his...MoreThank you very much for your comment ! We are very pleased to know that you've spent a good time with us! See you maybe next year, if you will come back by Dole !
