Bukhara (Uzbek Latin: Buxoro; Uzbek Cyrillic: Бухоро) is one of the cities of Uzbekistan. Bukhara is a city-museum, with about 140 architectural monuments. The nation's fifth-largest city, it had a population of 247,644 as of 31 August 2016. People have inhabited the region around Bukhara for at least five millennia, and the city has existed for half that time. Located on the Silk Road, the city has long served as a center of trade, scholarship, culture, and religion. UNESCO has listed the historic center of Bukhara (which contains numerous mosques and madrasas) as a World Heritage Site.

The food was tasty, and the location perfect. A little disappointing that they'd run out of plov! Note that the chicken tabaka can easily serve two hungry people.
And a special shout out for the shining light in the squat toilet that plays music as you enter!

An interesting location with Terrace overlooking the rooftops. Staff were very friendly and their service efficient...which is great for Uzbekistan.
The menu is a bit predictable and expensive compared to other similar restaurants and towns. What was disappointing though was that all of our food was cold. You shouldn't need hot food reheated...kinda spoils it!
Anyway..
It's nice...but maybe go for beer and cake!

Silk Road Tea House was the perfect refuge for us as we ducked in from a rain storm on a our second day in Bukhara. The menu is only tea (no food), but the setting is charming and the ginger tea is quite good. We spend an hour relaxing, Reading, and sipping tea.

Uzbekistan has encouraged industry by providing government low interest loans if individuals use family and homes to encourage new businesses. This has stimulated some great competition between these homes and standard restaurants.
Because my two children are vegetarian, our tour guide ordered a bounteous group of salads for them. In addition, we all had wonderful main courses which were steamed stuffed cabbages, peppers, grape leaves and other ground meats and vegetables. This was a great respite from the rather oily food that we were usually finding. We finished with cherries and apricots which were the best way to complete a wonderful lunch. The surroundings in a beautiful courtyard in what used to be a Jewish residence also showed lovely pieces of art in the dining room.

Attention - new adress! We are now in Tim Abdullah Khan, a trading dome, not far from the old place. There is also a nice Terrace with shadow or sun! The German Coffeeshop - first European style cafe in Bukhara! Espresso, Cappuccino, Latte Macchiato... A nice cup of coffee... With German cake! Ice coffee, milkshakes etc Snacks: Sandwiches, gazpacho, potatoe waffles with okroshka. Enjoy your coffee from beans of highest quality on our shadowy Terrace or in the air conditioned interior with contemporary design. In the old town, opposite Hotel Shahriston. German Quality!
Having drunk coffee all over Germany and enjoyed every cup I was intrigued to see the sign inside this Cafe that said 'Deutsche Qualitat' so I ordered an Espresso to try and found it to be very bitter.
I then understood that the coffee was a mix of Italian & Austrian which seemed a bit strange as the most coffee comes from Brazil.
While this afternoon I went to another coffee cafe and found their Arabic coffee to be much more palatable and interestingly cheaper.

It is worth seeking out this fairly small restaurant tucked down a side street in the Old Jewish Quarter, near the main Labi-Hauz Square in Bukhara. (There should be a placard advertising it and pointing the way from the square). It is in a beautiful, refurbished, traditional house, a lovely setting for dinner. I dined with two friends, there was a limited menu, but all freshly cooked.

Despite being the only dinners on a very cold November evening we had a thoroughly enjoyable evening. We were met and guided to the house despite the outside temperature being below -10°C The dining room was wonderfully heated and very historic and atmospheric. Dinner consisted...MoreСпасибо за тёплый отзыв о нашем доме.

If this is the restaurant on the corner of the Chor Bakr access road and the national highway, then its HIGHLY recommended. Shashlik is the best I had in Uzbekistan and the salads were no slouch either. The restrooms leave much to be desired.

The restaurant which situated in the centre of the city. You can feel the spirit of sunny Uzbekistan and ancient Bukhara, with beautiful eastern music. The interior of restaurant is designed in old national style. Where you can feel yourself in old and ancient Bukhara.
We loved every minute of our time in this restaurant. It is divided into various rooms off a central courtyard area. This works well as big groups can be accommodated privately leaving everyone else to enjoy the atmosphere peacefully.
The English menu has great choice and is very competitively priced. We had salads to start (the Sultana salad was the nicest food we had all night, just fab), then I had the Chicken Shashlik which was proper white chicken fillet, with no bones. My husband tried the Uzbek dish called Dhjiz with beef and enjoyed it. We both had desserts which were also tasty. All this was washed down with sparking water, the very drinkable Uzbek wine called Bagizagan (the merlot is very nice indeed) and two cappuccinos. The bill for all this was about $20!!! Incredible value for Westerners.
Everything about this restaurant was top class. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an atmospheric restaurant with good, safe food at a super price. We loved it!
