Mala Garden Hotel’s restaurant in Siófok offers an exotic atmosphere matching the hotel’s design, where guests can marvel at the magnificent view overlooking Lake Balaton all year round. The international cuisine and the menu is accordingly a composition of Far Eastern, Malay and Thai dishes and flavours, but devoted followers of healthy diets will not be left disappointed either with the wide variety of salads and fish dishes that await them. For those after Hungarian flavours, we have revisited a number of our cuisine’s traditional recipes and are proud to present our interpretations in the menu. Mala Garden Restaurant’s Terrace has a magnificent view of Siófok’s Golden Shore; during the summer, you may dine or drink your favourite cocktail in a genuine beach atmosphere. We have a rich selection of Hungarian wines, and to let as many try them as possible, the wine specialties of the Balaton, Villány and Tokaj regions are available by the glass. Every Friday night in June, July and August, live music is played to add to the beach atmosphere.
Located in small boutique hotel next to the lake, wide selection of dishes - ranging from meat, pasta, to hungarian and asian. Had a "hungarian" dish of beef tenderloin, potato wedges - very tasty, with fresh garlic and leek. Staff ok, a bit more expensive than expected.

Up market very expensive coffee house in prime position. Outdoor Terrace with comfortable Seating and partial view of the Lake. Good panini and excellent cakes served by a very pleasant young lady. Whole thing spoilt by very unpleasant man who brought the bill, saying in a loud voice "Service not included". Now, we may be ignorant foreigners, but we speak passable Hungarian and have visited the country many times. We know it is customary to leave a few small coins on the table, not to pay a service charge. Cash only (sure I've paid by card before as the bill is always quite large) so I carefully counted out the exact amount, 6,150 HUF. Said waiter took this with a somewhat bad grace, returning a couple of minutes later with a bill in his hand for 6,950 HUF saying "You made a mistake". I was about to pay him the extra 800 HUF (about £3) when I saw our original bill for 6,150. No mistake on his part; he was just trying to palm off the wrong bill. After the sweet cakes, a very sour note.

It is said this area is favoured by German tourists. It shows. In trying to order, ignored by one waiter, another said "Deutsch?", shrugged and walked away. Once I responded in German, he became somewhat helpful. NOT impressed. Lots of other places to eat in...MoreWe are so sorry! Maybe that temporary waiter assistant did not speak well german. That is why walked away. We appologize for the inconvenient.

Best and cheapest restaurant in Csopak near lake Balaton
Just recently returned from Csopak. We have visited Sétány Étterem three times with my wife as the place is unbeatable in terms of value and quality. The portions are good, the service is fast and excellent, and the prices are awesome. Can only recommend this place.

This place is nicely located in the small town of Csopak, above the famous Balaton lake. We had a table on the Terrace and immediately were attended by the owner of the winery. The menu is written on a blackboard, it is not very ample, but all the main courses look attractive. I chose the wild boar neck in a tasty sauce, accompanied by Brussels sprouts and an imaginative red cabbage cream, it was excellent. Although they specialize in white wines, I preferred a red wine of their production. They recommended a glass of a 2010 Merlot-Blue Frankish blend, which arrived luke warm, I had to send it back. The owner came immediately and offered me free of charge their most expensive wine, a 2004 Merlot, really superb. Later they brought back my first order too, at a correct temperature, so I can only praise also their service.

This is an old restaurant along the road 71. I have been here in the last years a couple of time but was surprised about the quality.
And the quality did not dropped at all. Friendly staff, prices are ok and food is typically Hungarian. See some of my pics. Simply delicious.
Is open 12 months a year but inside is quite small, so rather you reserve a spot.

If You want to eat delicious food while You are watching the big part of Lake Balaton, You have to try this restaurant. The service is excelent (waiters know what their jobs are), foods are delicious. You can spend some night of its pansion also. Quite place with beautiful view for the lake. Menu can be seen here: http://www.vorosko.hu/start_hu.html

Baricska Csarda is in odd environment, between ancestor grapes in the heart of Balatonfured - from the ship harbour, and from Tagore Promenade onto cca. 600 metres. From the Terrace, wich is covered with the wild vine there is a magnificent view overlooks to the lake Balaton. In 1811 formed Csarda re-open was in early summer in 2013. since then there has not only excellent fish from the lake and offers traditional cuisine, yet stays true to tradition after all in very good quality. The re-opening Baricska Restaurant operators - who directed the excellent Chianti restaurant in Veszprem - is an important new target set themselves. Let this catering establishment be the gastronomy, the wine culture, and a sanctuary of the culture that advertises the traditions of the neighbourhood wineries and Hungarian food making, his fame. The restaurant is on the central place of Balatonfured, from the 71 main road to the north finds, (The Shell petrol station on an access road which can be found at his entrance to approach). There is a beautiful Panorama overlooks the ancestor grapes, and onto Balaton, Tihany Peninsula.Ratings:Best 'csarda' in Hungary. Hungarian Cuisine MagazineBest 'csarda' at Lake Balaton. Baricska is regarded as one of the best restaurants around Lake Balaton so I went with very high expectations and I left mostly satisfied.
The place itself is a "recreation" of the old style Hungarian wayside inns, with live gypsy music (in the evenings), huge Terrace covered with ivy and wooden chairs/tables. I have to say the atmosphere is as good as it gets in its category, you feel like time travelling.
The menu consists mostly of Hungarian dishes (beef stew, duck with saurkrat, wiener schnitzel, etc), using high quality ingredients.
What we tried:
- Pickled cucumber cream soup - bit too acidic but very refreshing in a hot summer evening
- Daily soup which was cold pear cream soup - good
- Wiener schnitzel (pork tenderloin) -simply perfect, juice inside, crispy outside
- Fried sturgeon fillet with sturgeon sausage and celery gratin - maybe it was my fault of ordering a non-Hungarian dish or maybe my expectations were too high but I was not that impressed. It was tasty don't take me wrong but I missed that extra oomph that I felt with the wiener schnitzel.
- Somloi sponge cake - I'm not a big fan of this dish but gave it a try in case they know some magic. It was okay nothing special.
For the above menu plus a bottle of mineral water we paid around 11k HUF and was happy to pay a tip, service was professional.
Overall, we had a nice evening, everything tasted good. I'd return again and can recommend Baricska (in the weekends reserve a table).

Artisian Gelato at the heart of Lake Balaton.
I started out with one scoop and ended with 5 on the first day...kept going back...At the end of my 3rd day, which was my last day, I tried 20 sorts of ice and I was still not finished...but I could not eat anymore. Even if you don't like ice, this will break your habit, is sooo good!!

First of all, what I have to mention: we were in both Bergmann's. We visited them on different dates. The sweets are excellent. Captain Morgan and Mimoza Cake are our two must eats, when we are there and I regularly offer this Patisserie, when someone ask me, which place I like the most in Balatonfured. The whole design of the place is so nice and inviting. We can tell about it both Bergmann's.
The hardest point what we have to talk about is the service: we met only one nice lady, the rest of the team is just so unfriendly, unpolite, and it seems to work and care about the costumers are pain for them. It is just so sad. You can not sell your best cakes with people like most of them. You can give the sweetest thing, if a customer have to wait 15 minutes, standing in front of the cakes, and the lady who stands opposite does not give a (you know what) to say just a hello, or something, or I have to beg a glass of water next to my cake, and the waiter looks at me like he hates me already, they would not come back again. Or they will, but not with a good feeling. Having the best of something is not enough, you have to sell it. And the weakest point of this business is the service, from 5 people, 4 will say this.
