Apparently this wat has as a major sponsor a current Thai actor (Solopong Chathi - my spelling). The Gardens are manicured and contain some beautiful topiary and there is free food in the undercover kitchen area for visitors. The wat is still being developed but will be a lovely venue when fully completed. While quite visible from the main road you have to be careful to note the turn offs to the service road to get to it. No simple right hand turns here in Thailand

This temple is located on the side road of motor way to Korat.
We passed this temple at night and saw a beautiful lights lit on. So I marked this place to stop by before we go back to Bangkok.
The temple itself was spectacular. Outside surrounding by a pond, white & black swans and beautiful Gardens.
Highly recommended to stop by if you are in the area.

Lam Takhong Dam is very familiar to travellers heading to Korat; located about 15 km NE of Pak Chong it provides a vista to the North West of the Hwy a long stretch of water, with wooded mountainous backdrop. It has many small restaurants, mostly good on the Roadside stops off the Highway. It is a significant engineering achievement, more so because it is where Thailand's first pumped storage Power Station was constructed.
This review is about another aspect; along a minor road parallel to the Hwy there are numerous vegetable plots and fisherman supplying local catch and produce. If you have time to spend in Pak Chong it is an interesting 1-2 hour alternative to the Kao Yai area. Travel down the Old Mittrahap Rd from Pak Chong, about 5km from Pak Chong there is a slight fork where the main road curves to the right. Go straight on for about 3-4 km, you will find yourself on the Eastern edge of the Dam shore just to the West of the Highway. There are numerous small Nongs being fished (forming when the Dam level lowers) with small Market Gardens and vegetable plots on the rich exposed strips of land. Muang Porn Garden is located just off Mittrahap Rd (Hwy 2) on the side of the wooded hill overlooking Lam Takhong, about 15km North of Pak Chong. The busy highway can neither seen near really heard from the Restaurant, which provides for stunning uninterrupted views over Lam Takhong.
There are both indoor dining entertainment areas, and really interesting outdoor patio and decks.
Although there is a large menu we only stopped to break a long trip with coffee and ice cream. We will happily return and dine another time.
I believe there are also Cabins.

Big and beautiful temple. A place must visit when you are in KORAT. There is also a cafe. Free food at the canteen.

Sap Pradu is an irrigation Dam located off Highway 24 (to Buri Ram, Surin, Ubon) near the major intersection with Mittraphap Rd (Highway 2/AH21).
The Northern edge has numerous Salas or Huts built over the water where you can buy delicious freshly cooked meals, snacks and drinks. It is a very picturesque and peaceful location, which is a convenient 35km day trip from Pak Chong or a convenient stopover if you are travelling North East.
There are several what appear to be reasonably priced Resorts around the lake. We also saw many anglers.
