Visited here for a week with my two boys, 9 and 11. Body boarding was excellent. Large waves out at sea, but great spots to pick up the smaller ones and board back into shore. Lots of rockpools and caves to explore at low tide too. Great facilities and very friendly.

We also serve the most fantastic freshly prepared food, coffee, cakes, cream teas and ice cream! This is a great way of spending a day out. Start the morning with coffee/breakfast in the lovely cafe and then hire a bike and travel the coast to coast route. We hired the electric bikes which were fantastic but they have normal bikes as well. The route is very pretty, with only a few yards on a busy public road, and conveniently there is a very nice pub at the other end. At the end of the day the cafe serves delicious cakes and cream teas. The staff at The Hub were very helpful and I couldn't recommend this place more highly.

Fully stocked Surf shop that offers sales & hire on wetsuits, bodyboards, surfboards, clothing & accessories. We also offer Surfing & Bodyboarding lessons as well as Surfboard, wetsuit and kayak rental.
We found the website before our holiday and realised we were only 15 mins away so decided to pop in instead. We are in our 50s and had done some bodyboarding but decided we wanted to get our own kit for our holidays. The guys in the shop were great, they knitted us out with exactly what we needed, and NOT the most expensive stuff. They spent time to chat and give us some top tips. A great shop, and service from guys you can trust. Thanks for making our Cornwall trip absolute fun-nearly 70% of the body boarders we met were our age and just out to have fun.

It is 5 years since we last stopped at Portreath, and fortunately for us in that time the Bassett Arms has not changed.
It is still a typical local pub, but serving fantastic food.
We ate 3 times during the week. The first meal was cod and salmon pie, packed full of fish with a sliced potato topping.
Then we had steak and kidney pie with puff pastry and fresh vegetables and lastly on Thursday there is a steak night. That is £25 for 2 sirloin or rump steaks plus a bottle of wine, very good value.
Everything about the food and service is excellent, if you are anywhere near Portreath do not miss dining at this pub.

Great views and a very quiet track when we did this. Free parking at either Portreath or Devoran if you avoid car parks.
Gentle ascent make this an easy ride for all, its mainly off road so you will need a robust tyre for stones gravel and mud in places
The pub at Devoran is recommended even though we missed it twice, look up at the S bend otherwise the directions were great with plenty of cafe stop opportunities along the way

Base Camp is quite simply the best indoor activity centre in Cornwall and it is open to all 7 days a week, 9am-9pm. With over 2000 square feet of soft play, the only 'clip'n'climb' climbing walls in West Cornwall and free access to iPads and tablets in the Cafe - Base Camp offers hours of indoor fun and also makes a great venue for birthday parties in Cornwall.
Brought my two children here to climb. They had a good hour climbing the various walls and the instructor was excellent. Very friendly and encouraged them to succeed at reaching the top.
We found we needed to book, but could do so for the same day, so wasn't a problem but I would recommend you do phone and check first.

Cornwall's newest golf course, inspired by some of the most famous golf holes in the world. St Andrews, Augusta, Royal Troon, Sawgrass, Pebble Beach and Carnoustie - legendary names in the golf world, and now their most famous holes have come to Cornwall at The Famous Nine at Gwel An Mor. A spectacular par 3, nine hole course that will challenge golfers. We’ve created a course that everyone will enjoy playing. With spectacular views out to sea, every hole looks breathtaking on its elevated coastal location above Portreath. The Cornish weather will make every game different, every game a real challenge. This is the only golf course in Cornwall that uses the latest materials in all-weather greens, ensuring that the course is playable all year round. It takes roughly two hours to play The Famous Nine, which perfectly suits the busy lifestyle of the modern golfer.
Don't be fooled by this course's Par 3 status. It's far from an easy challenge with plenty of quirky holes based on holes at some of the world's most legendary courses such as St Andrews, Augusta, Carnoustie and Pebble Beach.
The fairways are narrow, bounded immediately by long rough where it is very easy to lose a ball. I lost 3 in my round. It needs to cut this back to semi rough to give casual golfers a more reasonable chance. If that could be done I'd lift my rating to a 4.
The greens are astro turf, some of better quality than others, particularly those towards the end of the round were a bit poorer in consistency.
