The last time we were in Carnoustie for a visit someone recommended this restaurant,
We enjoyed the food then and again on this return visit.
My only criticism is with the Seating area along the wall,
Oh my goodness it is in such bad need of refurbishing, stained, grubby and holes in the seats.
(horrible) if you are unfortunate enough to be shown and asked to sit in this area.
Sometimes things need time to get repaired but it was the same,
with the same large holes the last time we were here over a year ago!
Food 10/10, Seating area 0/10, shame as the rest of the restaurant looked nice.
Good professional staff, most of them with a smile.

A traditional family run hotel set in the heart of Carnoustie. The hotel offers comfortable en-suite accommodation, fantastic food and a warm welcome to anyone visiting or living in the area. The friendly and efficient team pride themselves in excellent customer service and strive to make your visit a memorable one
Second visit in 4 weeks and standards have slipped drastically, food was outstanding the first time round this time the fish was soggy and the steak pie was tasteless and pastry barely cooked.
Waiting staff both times were mediocre and the manager was ignorant and very unwelcoming, definitely will not be back and I will be advising against this establishment.

This is a Takeaway. We have been ordering takeaways from this takeaway since it first came to Carnoustie. Their food is always excellent, the service very professional. The food is delivered quickly and they never send a wrong order. Their food is good value for money. There portions are good and will satisfy a very hungry person, and they have some meals available in smaller portions for children, people with small appetites or on a diet. There is a wide variety of meals and they have some European and a curry option for those who may not like Chinese food. Food can be ordered at the takeaway, or you can phone and have it delivered for a very reasonable cost.
If your looking for a cracking chinese meal well visit George at the Hung wan....food is perfect ..piping hot and plenty to fulfill your palate..delivery service is fast and prompt and the owner George if you decide to collect will gas away with you till food ready ..real homely Chinese and anything is no problem

Located in Monifieth, which is approximately 7 miles from the centre of Dundee and 5 miles from Carnoustie Golf Links. A small family owned and run restaurant serving authentic Northern Thai cuisine. Highly recommended.
Was a bit worried when the restaurant changed hands but I needn't have bothered.
The food was every bit as good and the service excellent.
I had the Thai Green curry with rice and it was delicious,my wife had the stir fried Prawns with noodles and finished every bit.
We missed Ian and staff, but the restaurant is in good hands.

Visited Sol Y Sombra this evening with my family, 1 vegan (me), 1 vegetarian, 3 carnivores! Booked a table rough 6 weeks ago as we knew it was super busy! Confirmed last night that we had special requirements. Arrived and were immediately seated in the upstairs bar! We ordered Sangria (10/10), and then the food began!
First of all we were brought olives and we spicy nuts!
Secondly, we were brought a cold selection of tapas! The rest of the table were brought their food and I was brought a huge selection of vegan delights! The staff were super friendly, knowledgable about the food and really set a good vibe!
After we finished the ‘starter’, the staff brought out the hot selection of tapas! So much great food was on our table!! There was such variety for meat and non meat eaters!
From a vegan point of view this has been the best vegan food I have eaten! I am so used to having a slightly questionable mushroom risotto that when this stunning food came to the table I was overjoyed!
Phill- the owner, came and spoke to me personally, about where the food had come from and how the pickled cucumber was from his mother-in-law’s very own garden in Poland, (Well travelled cucumber!!) and what each vegan dish had in it!!
I can not express enough how great the quality and variety of the vegan food at Sol Y Sombra was! This really was a great dinner and I will definitely be coming back as often as possible!
Thank you to Phill and all the staff for having us!!!

The Corner Hotel Restaurant is a family run establishment open to non-residents. All our food is cooked to order from fresh local ingredients. We also specialise in meals for people with special dietary needs i.E. Celiac which is also cooked to order. . We also cater for birthday, christenings, anniversary etc parties. If you look at out facebook page you will see we also dress our restaurant for small wedding meals at a reasonable cost.
This place has also been refurbished since I was here last.
Staff were lovely dining area nice. Drinks reasonable. We both had steak pie which was tasty and good portion size. I would definitely recommend this place. Reasonable price for food and a good selection on menu.

Local Bistro Just Opened Very Nice, Great Food, Reasonably Priced, And Very Nice Family Run Business, Well Worth A Visit, Small Nice Setting And The Sweets Are Amazing, As Is The Food
We had walked the dogs from Arbroath along the beach and this was 1st place we came across. However, it was everything we needed after the walk - outside Seating in November, hot food and a place to tie the dogs up. We had chicken goujons with chips and garlic dip, it was great and was only 11am. I had a lovely large pot of tea and partner had a milkshake. The dogs got water as well. Will definitely come back next dog walk - recommend it!

This is a very nice family owned and operated business. One of the best in Scotland :-) The service is excellent. The food is high quailty and made from good, fresh ingredients. The owner goes above and beyond to be helpful. Deserves five stars and more if possible.
