This is not a Louvre. It is an old castle with open yard and several collections in the museum. You can visit lapidarium for free, you can see the collection of wine trade or pay the entrance fee and see the collections in the first floor - short film and local history from prehistory to modern times. A green hill stands few steps NE of the medieval part of Črnomelj. Upper part was rearranged to a monument of fallen victims of Second World War. Architecture is work of Marko Župančič. Special part of monument is stone figures, work of Jakob Savinšek. They are like Picasso´s Guernica in stone. Place is worth a visit if you are near Črnomelj.

Attraction not far from Metlika, is something special. You will find large local cemetery and three independent churches in the middle of it. The central one has a bell tower. You can park your car in a shadow of a linden tree before the entrance to the cemetery. Churches are open during the mass or when you borrow the key from the priest. They are interesting outside and inside. Main style is late Gothic. Furnishing, decorations and frescoes are from different periods. You can ask for more information in the tourist office in Metlika. Cemetery is always open and you can walk around the churches at any time.

The Gardens and surrounding views are absolutely stunning. The castle is a short drive from Karlovac town. The restoration of the castle continues with the museum inside a newly restored building. The museum tells of the history of the area and contains prehistoric, old Roman and medieval archeological finds. The museum entrance is 20 kuna which is about 5 Australian dollars.
