Fernie Museum

Opened to the public in 2013, the Fernie Museum is located in the heart of historic downtown Fernie. The museum offers two floors of exhibits, a gift shop, archives and visitor information services. The main floor permanent exhibit highlights the story of the Fernie region, from the use of the area as a transporation corridor by the Ktunaxa to underground and open pit mining to the development of Fernie as a four-season resort community. The second floor gallery features rotating art and history exhibits. The Museum also offers a range of programs throughout the year, including popular themed walking tours during the summer. Museum staff are on hand to help guide your paths as your explore our museum, community and the environment around us – whether it is on the ski hill or on our many hiking or biking trails. Public washrooms are available and the facility offers barrier free access.

We are glad we visited this museum. For a small space, it packs in a tremendous amount of information, and contains many historical artifacts. The staff member was able to answer any questions we had about the displays. Worth the $5 entry fee.

Fairy Creek Falls

Reviewed By Skibum6969 - Fernie, Canada

This is a mellow hike from the Fernie Visitor Centre that takes you through old forest to the base of picturesque waterfall. During the spring run-off it is roaring and angry, mid-summer more tranquil.
Recent signage has made it easy to find. Look our for mountain bikers on the trail.

Fernie Dirt Jump Park

Reviewed By Vince M - Fernie, Canada

I'm not a dirt jumper, but the setup they have here in Fernie looks fantastic. It's ridable from town, or there are places to park you vehicle between here and the opposite skate park.
There's a variety of features ranging in size and difficulty to help with progression in what's probably quite an intimidating sport.
It's all free, as a local club helps maintain this park during the non-winter season, and it should only really be ridden when not wet.
In addition, beside the Jump Park is a MTB skills area suitable for children, and a pump track to help work on your biking tekkers.
