We sell original art that is mostly local - much of the art is the work of art/owner Carol Naveta Rivoire. Carol's passion is CONTEMPORARY ART, and her paintings are full of all the elements necessary - pleasing colors, texture (lots of texture), balanced composition, line, value, and emotion. The galleries are located at beautiful Beaver Dam Farm in the village of Pomquet, 12 min. from Antigonish Town. One gallery is in a former stable, and the other in the former carriage house. -- Very charming and fun! There's a lovely Terrace with Seating. Have a cup of coffee and enjoy the flowers and container vegetables surrounding the Terrace. There are 500 old-fashioned rose bushes on the farm plus huge perennial Gardens. -- Drive EAST on the highway towards Cape Breton. EXIT 35B (Monks Head Rd.) Folow OLD BARN GALLERY signs to first road on left (Melanson Rd.)
We had a great visit to the old barn gallery. We explored the barn and beautifully kept property and Carol, the owner (and artist) was super friendly and resourceful. She happily answered all of our questions about art and the surrounding area. (Located Very near pomquet provincial park if you are headed that way !)
The kids loved Bella the cat and the horses, my husband and I admired the interior of the gallery both the artwork and the decor (those reclaimed barn boards!!! Wow). We left with a piece called "cool stuff" which is exactly what we saw when we stopped there! Worth exploring. Support local artists :)

Located west of Antigonish, this park was created to protect the many fossil beds located in the cliffs overlooking its beach.
We had fun in this Provincial Park. First, we were able to read about the many information panels. That was worthwhile. While we were there, we found a lighthouse from up high!
Immediately after that, we went for the trail through the forest. We saw the coast many times and they had wooden stairs to reach the beach at several places. We found some fossils and I enjoyed the sun setting slowly. We even found a waterfall.
We left with a big smile. This is a great place to enjoy!

I was attracted to this Cathedral. It stood out! It stood tall. It had three entrances, through wooden doors. The Cathedral were made of bricks.
I went inside during communion. Every seat wastaken. Wow!
They had wooden benches and their favorite color is green. On the ceiling there were paintings. Quite attractive.
The altar was simple but effective.
I enjoyed the beauty of this Cathedral. Worthwhile to see!

Antigonish Heritage Museum is a community museum that strives to preserve and promote a cultural understanding of the heritage of Antigonish Town and County. It is housed in the former CN Rail Station building, and includes exhibits, archival collections, and resources for genealogists.
Visiting the Museum today on a Saturday 6th Nov 2106 was a great honour. We were well received with a guided heritage tour around the Antigonish main street. Great place for first hand information on the history of Antigonish town. Lots of parking available and a quiet place natural place for peace & nature lovers.

Situated in a pretty cove, this little center will teach you a lot about tuna fishing that you probably did not know. Person on duty was very friendly and fun to talk to..

"Cross the RR tracks and turn right" and we did find it. Park your car and its about a 2 1/2 mile trail. there are areas of nice houses, then unspoiled estuary and forest. People say you see lots of birds including eagles but we did not see any our time.

Theatre Antigonish is a non-profit, community theatre. We strive to enhance the quality of life in our community by contributing to a thriving arts sector and allowing everyone to participate, through performance work or as members as the audience. Each year we produce 3 plays, present a One Act Play Festival and host other events like Improv evenings and Open Mic Nights.
I'm not sure what other productions happen here but we saw a play for Festival Antigonish. This is a small theatre but that just makes it more cozy. There really is not a bad seat in the place.
Staging is limited but the play we saw, Outside Mullingar, made great use of the limited size. The cast was phenomenal and the story was great.
The location is right on St. F. X. campus and can be confusing but follow the map on the website. There's lots of parking outside.
If you're staying in Antigonish, make a point of checking out a play here.

There is a playground, a football field and even tennis. However, most people prefer to walk on the track. Young people as well as retirees. That’s cool!
However, when we walked by the splash pad, the water started to turn on. At first it happened to one side of the splash pad and then it changed to another part of the splash pad. We had no idea how to stop it. Truly, we had fun seeing it move from one item to another, Water was everywhere. That was cool!
We enjoyed the jogging trail as well. That was cool as well.
This is a park with lots of activities. No one can be bored here. Worthwhile for a visit!
