There isn't much here. There are a few intems relating to the geology and history of the area. There isn't much. Excluding special exhibits what is ther comfortably fits in two rooms. However this is a small town museum and is a work in progress. It does give you a look at history, ethnography, and society of this remote area. Worth a stop. Cost $5 Canadian and a docent walked us through.

We arrived here with our cousins and realized that this was an inter-active, historical site related to the Hudson Bay time of late 1700 and early 1800. The persons are dressed appropriate to the period and know their material very well. I am a re-enactor myself with His Majesty's 10th Regiment of Foot in Lexington, MA, and know this time period but even so I learned a lot. The structures are great and the trading post general store is a wealth of knowledge. A session is devoted to the local natives who traded here and what life was like for them. Excellent presentations and helpful, interactive conversations are allowed. A definite place to visit, and re-visit!

Quebec North Shore and Labrador Railway (QNS&L)

This train ride begins in Sept Iles and ends in Schefferville in the province of Quebec, Canada. About half of it winds through Labrador. The 360 mile long set of tracks are paralleled by rivers and the scenery is spectacular. This is a very remote area of Canada and the only way to get to Schefferville is by train or plane as there are no roads. The train has old seats on board but they are comfortable. One can swivel the seats around in front of him so that he can put his feet up on them. There is a snack bar with sandwiches, coffee, cold drinks, candy, etc. The trip is 14 hours each way and the train departs each station at 0800 and arrives at the other station at around 1000. It's a trip worth making at least once.
