Tarantulas Way

Visit the tarantulas way with me together at night to explore the rain forest from Cahuita. Bird-eating spiders, frogs, bats and many insects with warranty. Listen the night sounds of nature on a leisurely stroll through a Zoo without fences. This is certainly an exciting and enjoyable experience for your vacation.

Cris is definitely dedicated to the fauna of this area. We saw six eyelash vipers, bullet ants and many tarantulas. a truly memorable night walk. I didn't give him 5 stars because I'm a little concerned that he does these walks most nights and allows guests to shine lights and flash cameras into the eyes of these night creatures. This seems dangerous to me as he must often find the same ones each night. Even a red-eyed tree frog was awakened by our group from his nightly slumber. Most night walks I've been on did not allow flash cameras and with modern cameras it shouldn't be necessary.

We went here the day after heading to the sloth sanctuary and found it so so much better!
The owner Patricia clearly has a passion for the animals and plants and have a really interesting tour. We also saw a whole range of rescues animals as she explained to us what they were doing to prepare them for release back into the wild.
The Gardens were also absolutely beautiful and receive a lot of visits themselves from wild animals.
There is only one tour a day which felt much better - they aren’t just hoarding tourists through but instead raising awareness and enough money to keep the place going.
Definitely pop by!!

Sloth Sanctuary of Costa Rica

Two types of tours to see sloths and learn about their diminishing rainforest habitat. Sorry, no direct contact with sloths, for their well-being and yours. "Buttercup Tour" requires no advance reservation; just arrive about 20 minutes before the top of the hour (8AM–2PM) to register. Duration about 2 hours. "Insider's Tour" is given twice daily and requires advance booking. This tour includes everything in the Buttercup Tour plus "behind-the-scenes" visits to the NICU, Slothpital, climbing area and more. Admission/donations collected directly support the sloths – their rescue, rehabilitation, wellness, research, housing and enrichments. Thank you for supporting the sloths with your tour!

The insiders tour is a must do experience. This sanctuary relies on funds from tourists visiting to keep up the amazing work they are doing.
The guides and staff are awesome and really believe in the work of the sanctuary. Sone of the stories are very sad but you can see how well the permanent residents are cared for.

Cahuita Tours

It is an agency of tour operator of tourist services in Cahuita. We have snorkeling and hiking services, as well as a visit to the bribri indigenous reserve in Talamanca.

My son and I booked the three in one tour. First we departed with a small group and headed to the BriBri community that raises and releases green iguanas. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and we learned a lot. We hand fed some iguanas and enjoyed the random turkeys that were present at the location. Next, we traveled a short distance to the second BriBri community, where we had a medical plant/chocolate making tour. My son was excited to shoot a hand made bow and arrow, but the best part was definitely making chocolate. We were able to help roast beans, crush them into paste and drink hot chocolate. The third part of the tour was a short hike down to a beautiful waterfall where we were able to swim and cool off. After the hike, we ate fresh pineapple and headed back to Cahuita for lunch. I would definitely recommend this tour and the tour company! Antonio spoke very well in English and my son and I have memories that will last a lifetime.

Yesland is an unexpected treasure -- far more than another minitature golf course. I felt like I was wandering through a unique sculpture garden with unexpected pieces at every turn. There is ample Seating available as you work you way through the different holes and each seat and table you encounter is a different, artistically crafted, work of art. The holes themselves are cleverly designed and no two are even similar. My first visit was with one friend, a few days later we returned with 2 more friends, then again with 3 neighbors etc. I plan on visiting many more times on my return trip to Costa Rica's Caribe Sur.
