6 Things to Do in Cape Tribulation That You Shouldn't Miss

March 15, 2018 Natalie Tallman

The dramatic headland and lush, unspoiled rainforest of Cape Tribulation makes for some exquisite surroundings, stretching all the way down to Cape Tribulation Beach and boardwalk. Four resorts and some backpacker hostels cater to the few (and happy!) visitors who make it this far north. Take charters to the nearby Great Barrier Reef, stroll on guided night walks, go kayaking, jungle surfing or swimming—or cruise with the crocodiles.

Daintree Rainforest - Cooper Creek Wilderness

2 or 4-hour guided and interpreted walking tours through the centrepiece of the oldest rainforest in the world.

This is the most amazing experience. The couple who guide the walks have lived in the rainforest for 30 years. They will do a guided walk and it is mind-blowing. They explain all the inter connectedness of every part of the living forest, the oldest in the world. 170 million years old. They devote their lives to maintaining it, learning and educating. They explain about the birdlife, flora and fauna. One of the most wonderful things we did in all of Australia. Highly highly recommend. Ten stars

We rented a car in Cairns and drove up through Daintree National Park..... If you dont mind (for Americans like us) driving on the other side of the road - def the way to go! Beautiful scenery up past the Alexandra Ridge Lookout.... crossing the Daintree River on the Ferry.... and the farmland.... and the wildlife that may (or may not) pop up....
Timed it to be at the beach for sunset... Beautiful!
Def worth a day's outing from Cairns.

We loved seeing fan palms and other trees that have been growing here for millions of years. The walkway is well maintained and has markers explaining the flora. We were lucky and saw a cassowary casually walking around while on the walk.

My wife and I visited Cape Tribulation as part of a holiday in tropical Queensland. We stayed in one of their self contained cabins. The staff and accommodations could not be faulted. The property is "off the grid", so the use of high powered electric appliances is very limited. There is limited wi-fi and virtually no phone access. The supplied breakfast of fresh tropical fruit, cereal, toast & home made preserves was to die for. We highly recommend a stay.

Comfortable boardwalk around an extraordinary tropical habitat. Eerily quiet and ideal to look out for a variety of exotic flora and occasional fauna, including the elusive Boyd's forest dragon posing at the entrance. Perfect location to appreciate both terrestrial and coastal rainforest.
Take repellent and use it!

Being a foodie myself, I would jump at the chance to try something new and different! This session is a laid back fun experience for all ages to try new fruits that most haven't even heard of. We drove from Cairns to see the Daintree and then on to this, was well worth it.
