Kanaka Durga Temple is located on the Indrakeeladri hill, on the banks of Krishna River,Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh. This temple is dedicated to Goddess Kanaka Durga, said to be very powerful Goddess.
Goddess Kanaka Durga on the Indrakeelaadri is described as Swayambhu, (self-manifested). Now the Ghat road is closed and a separate entrance to reach the temple is arranged with ample car parking area.
A lift is also provided for Senior citizens and ladies, which takes to the top of the hill, from where, Free Darshan queue starts. Separate lines for quick darshan and special darshan are provided for a cost of Rs,100 and Rs.300 respecstively. The temple is open through the day but for a few minutes for offering Nivedana for the goddess.
Having come to Vijayawada on 13th March, I visited this temple in the afternoon around 12.00 noon. Being Tuesday, there were good number of visitors/devotees. We opted for quick darshan and we completed the darshan with in 15 minutes. We utilised the free lift services to reach to the temple and back.

Prakasam Barrage across River Krishna at Vijayawada is the first dam in river Krishna. It's so beautiful and long, the old stone architecture seems so nice and waters also nice other side. In the evening now we have lighting reflections in water also thrilling.

I went to Undavalli Caves. Regarded as one of the earliest examples of Gupta architecture, the Undavalli Caves leave one in amazement and awe because of its marvellous design. From the outside, it looks like rows of cells arranged in different positions which arouse curiosity. It is great place to go.

Bhavani Island has the unique distinction of being the largest river island in India. It's a decent place to visit, and should be on your checklist of Vijayawada. Some things could improve, but I could see work in progress.
*How to get there*
Reach Berm Park and look for the ferry ticket counter. Tickets are nominally priced.
You can't miss the boarding point nearby. The boats carry 50 people a trip and are pretty fast. You'll cross the river in a couple of minutes, while you look at Durga Ghat and Prakasam Barrage downstream. Berm Park and the Haritha offer a good view from the boat.
*What to do*
As you off-board and enter the garden, you'll see scrap metal *sculptures* of Bhavani. You can sit down on the grounds and take in the ambiance of the island.
Bhavani Island is often marketed as a place for corporate and/or team events. We could see a couple of reunion type of events on too.
Given it is a wooded island, you can expect to see a few egrets and few other *common birds*, as well as several ornamental and endemic trees. The Gardens are well maintained. But, litter is common sight, thanks to insensitive visitors.
There's an *adventure zone*, which is worn down, from what I could see. It offers a few activities which are safe - spider net climbing, catapult, zip lining, a mechanical bull/rodeo, and a five stage low rope 'obstacle' course. The last one is especially interesting activity for a family. You should try this if you feel fit enough. Time yourself to add some challenge. Children, six or seven and older can do this, if they feel like it.
The shooting and archery were unavailable when we went. The ferry side of Bhavani Island has a short pathway and you can see limited city view.
On Christmas of 2017, the *musical and color fountain* was inaugurated and it's a good evening attraction. We saw the show from Berm Park through all the taking they did pre inauguration.
Or course, there are *rooms* for those who want to stay. New or additional tree house type of accommodation are being built. There is a Canteen for quick bite as well as a restaurant.
There are several *boating options*, kayak, speed boat and maybe even jet skis (not sure).
The place can be better maintained, I think, by visitors. There's litter in the grounds despite prominently placed dustbins and some facilities are run down.

After a drive of 35 km from Mangalagiri, we reached at Amaravati. However it is 45 km from Vijaywada and the attraction is not in Vijaywada as shown in Tripadvsior. After Darshan of Amarlingeshwar Temple, Amaravati, we went for Amaravati Museum. This museum is run and maintained by Archology survey of India. So we here find the place neat and clean. The museum is newly built and the building is of fully white color from inside and also in side. There is huge statue of Lord Buddha on the top of building and a nice view from road side. There are many sculpture in museum. Do visit when you are at Amaravati.

The major attraction of this temple is the big Anjaneya statue before entering the main temple which is a siva temple. The temple is on a small hill very close to the Vijayawada city. The Nataraj on the temple wall is the first to greet the devotees followed by the huge Anjaneya. Inside the temple we can see small temples of Ganesha , Subrmanya swamy etc. The main temple consists of Lord Siva in the form of Linga. Felt very sacred and blessed. The pooja performed was good. It is worth visiting this temple while in Vijayawada. It is a nice temple in a peaceful location. Another interesting thing is the view of Vijayawada city from the temple area which is very appealing. We can see Krishna barrage very clearly and the river is looking very beautiful from here.
