The Ferniculaire, is very well located at the mid-point of Phonon next to a beautiful water Fountain. It helps you to go down to the lake side very easily for just 1 euro and a 3 or 4 minute ride. if you decide not to sue the Funicular, the walk down to the lake side is very beautiful as well.

Historical castle of the Dukes of Savoie. The interior of the castle and the Gardens can be visited individually. The visit can be complemented with a walk through the vineyards as well as the forest.
A restaurant in the castle is offering one menu and if weather permits you can sit on the Terrace with nice views on the Mountains. Staff is very friendly and the price of the menu is relatively low. Highly recommanded. Parking is not an issue; there is also a large parking lot in front of the street.

Thonon is quite a pretty little town on the shore of Lake Geneva. My friend took the funicular down to the Rives but I stayed at the top and enjoyed the lovely views across the Lake and the flowers in the little park. I think he was a little disappointed with the views he got but, I liked mine! really good market on Thursdays. If catching buses back to Annecy, be aware they are full of school kids going home after about 1700!

Thonon i s a beautiful and pictureques town on theFrench side of the lake. You can get there easily via the boat across the lake from Geneva or Nyon on the Swiss side. There are very beautiful small streets around the centre of the town with stores and restaurants. Its great for a weekend visit. The centre has a lovely Fountain as well as a breath taking view of the lake from a height.

An enjoyable walk through the forest and at times skirting the lake. The memorial is about three quarters of the way around and is a tranquil , moving place .The trees and the memorial are beautiful and the air is scented by lavender and herbs planted there.a lovely place to sit a while and remember.

The permanent exhibits, although interesting for older kids and adults - commercial sailing ships, smuggling, and sculpture - they may not hold the attention of 6-11 year olds, but the temporary (2017) exhibition of engravings of the southern coast of Lake Geneva (2018 will feature the northern coast) is accompanied by a very creative game book (livret-jeu) that captured the attention and interest of a 7 and a 10 year old for over 30 minutes - and it is educational to boot. Quite unexpected for an exhibition of 17th - 19th century engraving - a real credit to the organizers for reaching out to the younger visitors. The temporary exhibition has English, German and Italian explanations. Entry to the museum is free of kids under 11, and quite reasonable for others. The museum is located in the basement of the Office of Tourism, which provides an opportunity to find even more things to do in the area, and there is a beautiful view of the harbor below.

Je ne suis pas allé physiquement à l'office du tourisme. J'ai téléphoné pour réserver une visite à la brasserie du Léman
J'ai été très bien accueilli par mon interlocuteur
