Perfect spot for afternoon coffee and cake. Actually it was latte and apple pie and both absolutely scrumptious. Lovely atmosphere and a very nice little gift shop to boot.

Ardgillan Castle

Reviewed By JerPag - Dublin

The nice little Paws Café at the back of Adrgillan's Rose Garden is beautifully located, sunny, and with a little touch of the unusual as it encourages dog owners to bring their pets.
The food was above par for a small place as this: sandwiches were served on 'doorstep' toasted breadloaf slices, and very tasty and flavoursome.
However at the time of our visit the café was quite full, and once we managed to secure a table we waited about 30 minutes before we could place our order, with a further 30+ minutes until the food came. It seemed the (maybe temporary) staff were just starting their season and did not know how to proceed.
In fairness to the staff they all had a smile on them and were quite apologetic about the waiting time, and prices were decent.
We might come back, but not at rush hour!
The castle and grounds are still a great place to visit and spend a day though.

Newbridge House

Lovely place but found the tour overpriced for what we were told. Guide was very nice and knowledable but spoke very fast and we could only pick up a fraction of what was being said. Did not really try to engage us. Ardgillan tour and cafes are way better.

The Millbank is a small intimate Theatre popular with locals. I've attended various shows there over the years and I must say that they have all been very professional. Great place for gigs too, occasionally hosts some very famous musicans & singers. They also run a great Drama programme for children.

On the way to the airport my friend suggested we left in the afternoon and spend the day in Malahide. We had days in the lakes and Mountains And now this was equally something gorgeous of Ireland - a country park with a turreted castle. There is a great walk through the grounds down to the village and then the Marina and back again stopping at the Avoca Cafe for 2 soups.
